Am I the only one who thinks that song sounds like "Ice Ice Baby" by the infamous Vanilla Ice? Yeah?
I've never heard the song, but it could very well be. BTW.. You do know that Vanilla Ice stole that song from Queen and David Bowie (Under Pressure).

Where were you in 1991? In a cave?

Vanilla Ice sampled Under Pressure, and also, he supposedly stole the lyrics from a black rapper from Dallas, TX, who later had Suge Knight dangle him off a skyscraper until he agreed to pay up.

Long title, but how about a shirt that says 'I Love India slave labor, thanks for helping us reach an all-time high in unemployment, and thank you Dell, HP/Compaq, IBM, etc....' Maybe you could start on the front and end it in the back.

My vote is for "My job went to India, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."

For all the people dissing India about "taking our jobs" just cool it. This is why you get an education, and continue with education an sharpen your skills, so maybe, just maybe, you can be marketable in todays economy. Its called survival of the fittest. Dell is trying to save money, and if you were in their position, you'd do the same thing.

The Peugeot add is very nice, but surely there is another reason

That commercial is great. I remember seeing it on TV. I wished piggot sold cars here so that they would show it here.

I love India because it showed me how good I have it here in the states. If you've been to India, you know what I mean.

They were giving these away for free if you bought a Bic Mac at McDonalds. Funny, they had a hole pile and no takers...

I love that ad.

The shirt is for Indian people. Or people that love India. All of you who are upset about jobs being outsourced to India... man, if you think unemployment is bad in America, you haven't visited India recently.

You can also get an "I love Kashmir" shirt by calling the Indian OR Pakistani census bureau.

Yes, I agree BUT Dell isn't thinking that they are leaving a lot of people in this country unemployed and those are the people who buy their products. Not too many Dell customers in India. I don't think the 'Dude you're getting a Dell' guy has caught on over there yet.

There's hardly a multinational around that hasn't outsourced something or another to other countries with cheaper labor. Gonna have to get used to it.

I think India sets a good example of how a country should progress. (efficiency - productivity Vs cost - overhead)
For example, I just want to hang-out and have fun while they're sweating (literally) and working hard - conclusion? I need to stop slacking around and work harder

State of California government could use some of efficiency & optimization IMO

Great deal!!!

The way I see it is if we are to survive in a global economy then we need to be able to compete in the global job market and we don't seem to be doing that. It is much cheaper to outsource to India when the salary of one guy will easily pay the salary of 4 or more people in another country. There is no incentive for the corporations to hire Americans when people in another country can do the job just as well or better and are willing to work for less. It just means the prices we are paying for goods and services in our country are just too high and that requires higher paying jobs which we cannot keep because people in another country can make a living doing the same job on less pay. That's just the way I see it.

When the average programmer in India makes $6,000 a year compared to an American programmer who makes $60,000, how is the American progammer supposed to compete? Get better skills? DOH, I don't think so. An American programmer cannot compete at that price no matter what they do. All CEOs are looking at now is cost. They would outsource their mother if they thought they could get a better deal.

I don't have anything against the folks over in India, they are smart people and I applaud them for trying to make a better living for themselves. In a few years companies will outsource IT work to the next lowest bidder which will probably be China.

Actually alot of the big big names that outsourced to India a long time ago are now thinking of taking that business to countries east of India (don't remember their names) that are willing to do the same job for even less. Plus, I agree with you, education isn't the answer. Don't get me wrong, education is important (I'm working on mine). But education only gets you in the door, the rest is what you know / experience.
Now to the point of the bottom line. If someone is willing to do the same work for less than half, why won't you hire them? Is that not why you see so many mexican workers doing construction/yard work/fast food work? If someone is willing to mow (sp?) my yard for $5 versus the kid down the street wanting $15 or the professionals wanting $50, I'm going with the $5 guy. That is the ONLY reason companies are outsourcing. The US and UK have ppl just as good (if not better) than ppl in India or China. I believe the cost of living is high here (US). If your bills were suddenly cut in half, you wouldn't mind working for less (if forced to). Cost of living in those countries is alot less in comparison. Yes, they have an abundance of human resources, which also makes it alot cheaper, but the $6000 that a worker makes in India goes almost 5 times (or more) further than what it would here.
I myself am not too happy about the whole outsourcing thing since I am a CS major

Actually I'm glad I'm not in India right now. Dubya may still be in office when he realizes that India has noo-k-lar weapons and decides he's got to do something about it.

If jfk didn't do anything about their nuke program, and nixon didn't do anything about their nuke testing, I don't think dubya is going to do anything about the nukes that they've had for a very long time...

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. Are you saying that in order to compete in the global economy the U.S. needs to "evolve" and try to be be more like a third-world country?

I love India in a way that, until recently, was considered taboo.

Let them point. Let them stare. I don't care if the whole world knows.

"India, lets say you and me get hitched, maybe save up for that trailer, have us a couple of little hindus."
"I love you, India... and thats not just the booze talkin. '"

I find that I can't watch that video without bobbing my head like the driver does while that tune is playing. How infectious.
