Free Increased Upload for Verizon DSL

Verizon has increased it's upload from 128 to 384 up for the same price. All you need to do is call 1-800-567-6789.

Currently on the phone doing the upgrade.

Hope they increase the download to 3Mb. That would be schweet!


Edit: I asked while on the phone, and they will be increasing to 3 down by mid July. Unfortunately, you will need to call to get that increase too, but I will be scanning the press releases weekly now.

Did they say if the download increase would be free or would it cost more? A big thread on another board was hinting that it would be a higher tier of service.

I called over the weekend about an upload speed increase. They said it would take 5-7 days. As of last night it still wasn't increased.

Well, from what the dude said to me on the phone, he said "yeah, it will be offered at the same price". Maybe he got confused with that upgrade with the current one, but it definately looks like they are going for the cable jugular with offering the same speed at a lower cost. I am all for it.

Feell your pain on that one. At least while playing UT2k4. Anything bigger than a 8x8 and my link just crawls.

verizon sucks. they better not charge more for that increase.

i had earthlink dsl long time ago for 50 bucks and it was at 1.5 down and 384 up.
now i have earthlink cable (by time warner cable in nyc) and it's 4M down and 400 up.

edit: I love my DSL service thru Verizon, but I have to jump through hoops anytime there are free upgrades. Like last year when I got upped to the 1.5mbps.

I'm actually 18k+ feet from the CO, but my neighborhood has some other setup going (frame relay or something? I forget). So whenever I call to get these upgrades, their system says it can't be done.

Like now, the lady said I couldn't because of my distance, and the fact that I'm only able to get the 768kbps down. To which I corrected her in that I have 1.5mbps.

Anyway, I'm supposed to get a call later today :roll: I'll just have to call again tonight I guess.

Thanks! Just called and it was relatively painless--only a 5 minute hold time to deal with.

For reference, you'll want to say "DSL Billing" to get to the proper CSR when prompted.

Just called - like stated, it's painless. I had to be transferred to the Sales Department as opposed to DSL billing (actually I called twice and the first time I was transferred over to DSL Billing)

I think you're full of crap.
TimeWarner cable is 3mb down 384k
it was 2.5mb down previously and they upped it several months ago.

Cool, I just called & qualified my line for 1.5mbps down/384kbps up. Sweet deal. The Verizon rep also confirmed they'd be going to a full 3.0mbps down sometime in July. It also will take around a week for the increased speed to provision. So I guess I'll be running some speed tests on the 9th.

Anyone have some good links to test download speeds?

I called and they said it would take 3 days. BUT on the Verizon DSL newsgroup's some folks are reporting that they are SOO backlogged it won't be till early July to get the upload increase.

As for testing, why not go straight to the Horse's Mouth!!

I guess it wont get much better next month when they have the download also increased. I told him to put me down for that increase too, but who knows when/iff that will go through.

Problem with that speed test. It only shows download as far as I can tell.

Well, just did the speed test at dslreports and it says I am at 336 up. Kinda fast upgrade if it has gone through.

They told me it would be done between 8 am - 12 pm tomorrow and that my dsl would go out for about an hour.

Which is funny cuz 3 yrs ago the limit was 16,000ft. I was told that I was to far for dsl then. Go figure
