netzero rules.. since I lost my cable, and I'm waiting on satellite internet, I'm using netzero. took me all of 2 seconds to "crack" it and create a pure dialup networking connection to netzero... never get disconnected, surfing for hours without even installing their cheezy software

In the Netzero/bin folder, jpeg.dll's contents accidently got erased. I still can not figure out how to set up DUN to work, instead of using the dialer. Have everything but how to login username and password.

Netzero is only a backup for me, and primary is Surfbest at $12.95 with 2 real smtp/pop mail accounts, and even newgroups.

I have been using this for just over a week now.

VERY HOT.

If you stop the "update download" in the middle of its process (after you download the software, and register).. you can then just use a DUN to get online. (you are not supposed to be able to do this).
I have done this before with Netzero, and others. It works great.

ONfree.com or Infree.com does not have any banners anyway.... but by doing what I suggest.... you do not have to use THEIR software.

In the ol days... you used to just be able to "record" your logon... and copy the incrypted password. Now the software has gotten tougher.... and the symbols cannot be so easily copied.

The above works as it allows you to register.. and capture your password in DUN... then just "save" your password.. and you can continue to use DUN to connect. If you have Tweak UI... you need to be sure that you do not have any of the "paranoid" buttons clicked.

Isn't FreeLane powered by 1stUp? Or does FreeLane use 1stUp technology but does not rely on 1stUp for internet provision? I noticed this info when you are connecting ...

Just wanted to add my $.2c to the discussion. Beware of the security
issues when using freeware products. Especially free ISPs who are
notorious for using something called SPYware. If I understood the
article I read a while back Netzero does use SPYware as well as
GoZilla which is why I removed the beasts from my computers.
When I say security I mean your personal and Credit Card info.
Yes the article I read stated that SPYware will record all personal
info it can.

Some people are just freaking lazy... finding these hacks isn't the hardest thing to do, especially if you use the security search engine somebody posted already (www.astalavista.com).
