Helpful reminder of some other post somewhere in AT, EVEN BETTER than the AOL free online scan:
At CompUSA they're selling Kaspersky Anti-Vir 6 boxed CD-ROM for $59.99 with a $60 online rebate.
(If you mail in your rebate request, you get $40, but if you apply online, you get $60.)
I bought it and am now awaiting the rebate, which CompUSA says it intentionally delays for 21 days.
You pay sales tax on the $59.99, you get $60 back, leaving you a tiny amount out of pocket (in my state it cost me $4.64 net)
Zest for life!!!
From CompUSA to me:
Rebates Approved and Processing
The following rebate(s) have been approved and will be mailed after the merchandise return period ends.
Rebate (click for details) Amount Trx Date Status
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 $60.00 11/08/06 Pending
All rebates are pended for 21 days from the purchase date to give you the time to return the product if you are not satisfied. If you return the product you are no longer eligible for the rebate.

Deleted,
because according to the link below provided by brikis98, the free Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6 deal I scored at CompUSA isn't available past 11/11/2006.

EULA says you agree to be spammed. If not, do not proceed. Now you know why it is free.

AVG is much faster. I have to turn off AVS protection each time I play CS:Source (Amd Athlon64 @ 2.5GHz, 1Gb memory). It slows down the system for about 2 minutes after reboot too.
