Speaking of, I haven't received any word about this in the mail or anything. Could this be regional? Two people have posted different dates, so...

I was an Ass. Man. (assistant manager) at KFC right after College in the early '80s, when they started the name change. Some market guru did some research and decided that people had a negative connection with the word "Fried" and the words "Heart Attack" . Remember this was the time when McD was changing the fryers from Beef tallow (YUM! ) to vegetable shortening (YUK! can't you just see Ted Nuggent freaking out) for supposed health benefits. Also when putting up new signage and printing new ads KFC is easier to spell right!

Edit: btw they now add the beef tallow flavor directly to the frozen fries... which really annoyed some religious types (Catholics on Fridays and Hindus) who thought that they could get a meal at the number cowkiller in the world without getting any cow. :/

ReEdit: they may have removed the tallow after the last round of whiny press releases.

I had popcorn chicken about 10 years ago. I remember it being basically a tiny strand of chicken meat coated in batter and deep fried. I haven't touched one since. It would probably take 50+ popcorns to equal the amount of chicken in one breast. Meanwhile you would have a coranary.
But I guess if it's free I might try it again. Maybe they've gotten more generous with their meat. laff.

I just got back from KFC. They actually give you more than just "4 pieces" in their snack size. Anyways, I would love to go get some more, but unfortunately, work's calling my name. Bump for a Good deal.
