free long dsitance to anywhere in the lower 48 states. You don't have to sign up for anything or download any software. You give it your phone number and the number you want to call. Only catch is calls can only last upto 20 minutes and you have to click on a continue button every 2 minutes.

Will our calls ever get through? I remember Nortel Networks had this and calls NEVER went through.

Has anyone found any good pc to phone systems? I tried dialpad and was not very impressed. Any out there that are worth checking out?

Well, this seems to absolutely suck. I've tried it several times, and each time it told me the service was "busy," and then locked me out for 15 minutes so that "all users have a chance to try."

I wouldn't want anyone else to miss a busy signal while I've got them all tied up.

1/2 the time the I-Link service is busy and I get locked out for 15 mins. I've stopped trying and now use Nortel networks.

I-Link: after the first 3 mins (can't remeber, but I think it was 3), you have to press a button every 2 mins (maybe 3 mins -- remember, I've stopped using it).

Nortel: 5 min time limit on calls, NO limit on number of calls, NO "locked out" period.

What is the URL for the nortel service. I'm also sick of getting server busy at i-link. If you try to call again within that 15 min lockout period it'll reset you time again.

Due to the overwhelming number of people flooding Nortel's service, they pulled the deal. It was posted on here along with numerous other forums. After that, it snowballed into a huge problem for them, so the service started giving us busy signals and after it stopped going through period, they eliminated it.

I tried Dialpad.com when it first came out about a year ago, and I really wasn't all that impressed either. The quality was terrible and occasionally the connection to the other person would just "die". But i've recently started using it again, and I must say its great. The quality is much improved and i haven't gotten a disconnect yet!

Try freeway. I have not had a long distance charge on my phone bill for 2 YEARS!! Go to http://www.broadpoint.com/, and sign up. It takes a while to be acctivated, and only one account per household (be creative, I got two accounts using my pager # and home phone as two diff addressess and used Mike instead of Michael and left out my middle init.= so I have 4 FREE HOURS of call per month, and have never ran out). You get 2 minutes for each 10-15 second add you listen to. Just watch TV and hit the star key when promted, and when you rack up enough minutes, hit pound key and there you have it. Works great from payphone when you don't have change. This has had to save me a grand or more. Let me know how anyone succeeds...I'd be very curious to see how much longer they can keep this up.

Later,
Medmike

Another ok one is phonehogit allows you to earn minutes on a virtual card ( you can probably guess the URL ). Just don't use it from a payphone, or you will hear a large sucking sound. That's your minutes going down the tube.
