Free Microsoft security update CD -- NOW up to March 23 2004 updates

I got a shipping notification on Mar 18 saying

Your product has shipped. You can expect delivery of your product in three to eight business days, depending on the ship to location.

Here it is Mar 30 and it still has not arrived. USPS sucks! They probably lost the sucker..:disgust::|
I went ahead and ordered another one just in case.

Same thing, ordered early Feb, got the email saying it was delayed, but shipping and still waiting. Bleh Microsoft. I could have actually used it last weekend too, oh well.

Yep, don't fret folks. It will come.
Mine came a couple days and I ordered mid-February.

I am surprised though. For Win 2K for example, it has SP4, IE6SP1 and one other critical update.
I thought it was going to have all the critical updates. Oh well.
By the way it's the February 2004 update cd.

for all those people waiting you are going to be highly disappointed in this cd. there is really NOTHING on it of value. im extremely disappointed and have given personal information to micro$oft which was a dumb move in my eyes. waste of time to be perfectly honest to even fill out the forms based on what content is on this cd

Warning about this disk - form Microsofts web page: "This CD includes Microsoft critical updates released through October 2003", not throught March of 2004.

Also this CD screwed up my Windows ME machine. On a XP system the disk gives you a few options as to what you want to install but on a ME system, it just starts in installing everything Microsoft has updates for. It installed Media Player9, which I did not want. It installed Internet Explorer6, which I did not want.

It also screwed up the install of Internet Explorer by some how only installing and upgrading about half the files. Because of the mix of version 6 and 5.5 files, Internet Explorer did not run properly after the updates. I could not uninstall IE or run a repair on it because of the mix of files.

I had to run my backup to get my system back. Then I looked through the files on the CD and installed the updates as I whated, not the updated that Microsoft wanted. I do not consider Media Player9 a "Security Update" and I am disappointed in how this software was made to install. This disk is what Microsoft wants to put on your computer and does not give you any, if many, choices on that is being installed. Be careful when running the disk.

I had ME before I upgraded to XP. With ME, all I had were problems - crashes, hang-ups, etc. I can truly say that XP really has made a difference on the software side of my computing experience. Upgrading to XP was worth the $79.00 I paid direct from MS to replace ME which was a big mistake for me. If this disk ever comes, it will make upgrading my hardware a lot easier.

i ordered this MONTHS ago.... i had to reformat 4 computer last weekend.... and guess what showed up at my doorstep the following monday. the update cd. then the next day i got another.

is anyone else getting til feb 2004 cds? is that the same as the march one?

It's easier to just slipstream SP2 RC1 into your WinXP install.
