I got this 10 week pass but how do I tell the people at Blockbuster that I can use it within a year and not 10 weeks? I can't imagine talking to a teenage employee saying "There's a law in California that says I'm not bound to a 10 week limit". They'll just probably give me a funny look. Can someone help me out?

Let's get real here.

You get a free movie which once it comes out will cost $19.99 - $24.99.

You pay for the movie and essential get a rental a week free for 10 weeks. That's a good deal I guess but I couldn't think of 10 movies I'd like to see RIGHT NOW.

I'm not talking about using it for a year, I just dont think I'll be renting a movie a week for 10 weeks, I want to use up the 10 rentals at my own leisure.

That would make it a sweet deal. 10 rentals in 10 weeks is kinda eh.

I got in on this deal. I am here to clarify. For all CA peoples, it is 10 weeks, any week for the next 2 years. Not bad at all.

can't speak of monster's inc, but the LOTR one is as follows:

http://blockbuster.qrs1.net/bb-wn-0618-legal.html

Get The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring FREE-for a limited time!
Membership rules apply for rental. Movie rental card is only redeemable at the participating store where it was purchased and only on the membership account of purchase. You may redeem only one (1) rental per week for 10 consecutive weeks with the first week being the week of purchase. California and New Hampshire residents: You may redeem only one (1) rental per week. Hawaii and Massachussets residents: You many redeem only one (1) rental per week until redemption of all 10 rentals or 2 years from the date of purchase, whichever comes first. Weeks begin on Sunday and end on Saturday. Rentals not redeemed are forfeited. Offer valid at participating stores while supplies last. Quantities limited. Limit one (1) 10 week rental card/free DVD or Video offer per customer. DVDs or Video of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring available while supplies last. *$60 value is based on the approximate value of 10 DVD rentals plus $22.99 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring DVD price, however, actual value depends upon customer's use of movie rental card, actual rental price and location of store.

no mention of it having a 2 year limitation. it might have changed for monster's inc though.

I think in CA, gift cert never expires no matter what so the 10weeks or 2 years doesn't really apply here.

I live in CA and i enrolled in this a 2 days ago. So far, I have rented 3 DVD's and i have them all out at the same time right now. U can even rent all 10 dvd's at once (i don't know why u would want to...). plus, the blockbuster dude told me i had infinite time to use up the 10 rentals.

No you CAN'T rent all 10 at once. I don't know what is wrong with that store's computer system, but the barcode on the card will only work once per week!!! If your store lets you rent more than one at a time that's great for you, but this is not the case at 99.9% of stores.

As far as Tech's comment that the cards never expire in CA per CA gift certificate law, you are correct technically. However the barcode won't work in the system after Sep. 2004...so yeah you have more than 2 years to use it, but use it up in 2 or you'll just have some major headaches in the future when you get an ignorant CSR.

BTW: The next presell promo is officially Spiderman! From what I hear the promo will start after Monsters Inc. ends. I'm gessing we'll do the rental card but that's not confirmed as of yet.

i guess the location i go to is a lenient one. because, like i said, i rented 3 movies at a time and still have them unreturned as i am posting this message right now. also, i'm assuming some of you are given a "gift card" which retricts u to 1 rental per week. I was not given such a card. they just basically credited my account with 10 rentals and flagged it with a paid "presale for MOnster's Inc."

Crank,

I guess this comes too late for you, but I might help others:

From my experience, the card has to be used at the same BlockBuster where you 1st start using it. For instance, last year when I got in on the Shrek deal, I bought mine @ the Milpitas, CA store, and used it near home @ one of the Fremont stores.

I don't know for sure that the rules would be the same, and maybe someone already said something to the contrary before me, but no patience to read the thread.

that was my ¢2, and now I'm broke.

Hey Bobofoosh, am I correct in understanding that the card is only good at the store you buy it at?
There are three Blockbuster's (at least) between my work and home, and I was dumb enough to buy my LOTR card at the most crowded one - DOH!
Anyway, I was going to try to get a movie tonight at a different one, but after reading the back of the card, decided I'd better make the drive and hope to find parking at the crowded one.

Thanks,
