Just like the LOTR deal, now its Monsters Inc.
Pass is $24.95....

Starts August 20th, but some stores have started the promotion early...

Just remember to get your movies back on time, or they become Ballbuster video...

What if you all ready have the LOTR card, can this one begin after the other one expires?

Don't know for sure but, if possible, just wait until your LOTR card expires and then get in on this. Otherwise minimize the overlap.

A question on the pass: Do the rental have to be used in consecutive weeks? I've heard both ways, and am not sure at this point. Other than that, this looks to be a promotion which will be used for more DVD releases in the future, and a hot deal as well!

Yes, must be used in consective weeks.
Except in California which doesn't allow an expiration of benefits for a year or more.

Yeah, only 1 DVD at a time.
Fortunately for me, I'm in CA, so they can't hold me to the one-a-week-or-lose-it thing, so it's a better deal out here.
But even if you did the LOTR and still have a few weeks left, I'd imagine you could rent 2 DVD's per week and put one on each card...right? Not bad as long as there are movies you want to see.....BTW, I already racked up 2 late fees doing the LOTR deal - DOH! - oh well, still works out to be a great deal for me

No. These are presell promos only, so once the movie comes out the promotion ends. The Monsters Inc. Promo ends on Sept. 13th when the movie comes out.

Yes, you can use the LOTR card and the Monsters Inc. card at the same time. No you can't use either card more than once a week. The week begins on Monday and ends on Sunday. In CA and NH the cards don't expire until Sept. 2004. Everywhere else the cards expire 10 weeks after activation.

This is a great deal and if you're in the San Jose area come and pick it up at the Bascom/Hamilton store in Campbell.....we could use the sales

I haven't heard anything about the Star Wars Episode II promo being next, but I'll post if I do.

Why is that? CA and NH are exempt from the 10 week limit.

In CA it's because we have an ultra liberal State Legislature concerned with making sure the consumers have as many rights as possible.
In NH it's because they ahve an ultra conservative State Legislature concerned with making sure that individuals have as many rights as possible.

Bobofoosh - thanks for the post, it's nice to have some definitive information on these deals!

Do these 10 free rentals count for vid. games, too?

If the promotion is the same as the one for LOTR then the following should apply(except the 10 consecutive wk thing as already noted):

"This card is good for one (1) free movie DVD or VHS rental per week for 10 consective weeks from the date of purchase at the participating store location where the rental card is purchased and only on the BLOCKBUSTER membership account number of purchase for all 10 rentals...... Redeemed Rentals will count towards BLOCKBUSTER Rewards benefits. Rental cannot be redeemed for game or equipment rentals.... If recipient rents multiple movies when redeeming rental, ."credit will be applied to the highest qualifying rental price"

I stopped in to return a video today and asked about this, the manager seemed to think that the card was going to be $19.99 this time around, guess we'll see...

Hey Bobofoosh, am I correct in understanding that the card is only good at the store you buy it at?
There are three Blockbuster's (at least) between my work and home, and I was dumb enough to buy my LOTR card at the most crowded one - DOH!
Anyway, I was going to try to get a movie tonight at a different one, but after reading the back of the card, decided I'd better make the drive and hope to find parking at the crowded one.

Thanks,

To answer these last 2 questions:

1. The card is $24.99.

2. Yes, the card is only good at the store you buy it at.

The Blockbuster clerk here in Boston told me that I have up to 2 years to use my 10 Week Rental Pass as well.

I hope she was right...

With the LOTR pass, they couldn't even check if I had used my rental...they just politely asked if I had used another rental this week.
