Hey thanks...

Lots of B-sides and fringe artists, but if half these artists had the big record company machine pushing their sales, they'd be hitmakers too, they're better than a lot of the "big name" artists now anyway. There are some pretty well known ones on there too though. Hey afterall, you can't beat the price and I get to hear some artists I wouldn't otherwise check out.

This encoding method is likely to become the new standard for high quality MP3. It creates MP3s based on the LAME Alt Preset Standard switch that was developed by a group of audiophiles. It was designed to create MP3s that sound exactly like the CD original, even to audio freaks using equipment that cost more than your car.

Thanks OP for reminding me. Haven't checked it out in years since they never updated it... until now.

I thought everyone already knew about this. Amazon.com has been doing this for years.... as far back as 2000.

I downloaded a couple songs that I already owned, but my existing 128kbps mp3s sounded better then the ones from amazon. Tolerable I guess since they are free, but quality is a bit too low for my standards.
