People check hot deals forum and only this forum, so deals like this are good to be posted here. I found out about the Animatrix movies thru this forum. Took about 2 minutes to download this file. Great stuff!

Anyone have (or know where I can get) a copy of the original Wolfenstein game? That game still ranks up there as one of my all time favorites.

From WALMART.

Also, Best Buy, Circuit City and more.

Yes, I AM talking about the original DOS game (Which actually, wasn't the first Wolfenstein game, it was just Wolfenstein 3D).

The jewl case (It's value software) claims that you must have Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 or XP to run it

This isn't an ordinary game demo. It's Return to Castle Wolfenstein multiplayer for FREE. FREE as in you do NOT need the original game. Free as in the full release will not require the original game or your money either.

Perhaps you've heard of id software? Makers of the Doom and Quake series which are arguably the best FPS the planet has ever seen? Sold millions upon millions of games? Remember them now? Believe me, this is a hot deal. You name another full blown, cutting edge game that is being given away like this and maybe you'll have a point. I won't hold my breath.

America's Army

Oh man, this is too easy...

Now name a game that doesn't REQUIRE you to register on their freakin' web page before you can even log in to the game!! :| I attemped to try and play AA once. I downloaded it, ran it. OH WHATS THIS!? You have to register in order to play? Can't you do this through the game? NO!

I tried jumping through the hoops to create an account, and you know what? I never did get my own account after I followed the steps to do so. You can bet I promptly deleted that crippled piece of trash after that experience.

Don't ask me why the registration form didn't work, but I tried it a few times (hey, I wasted several hundred megs of download time getting it), and it didn't work a single time.

New information out for RTCW:ET - according to them, the full version will be released maybe next week...

We wanted to update everyone on Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory progress. Thanks to dedicated gamers and testers, we've been working on fixing bugs and other issues that have been uncovered in the recently released map test. We've also been following feedback in the community to help us address any balance issues. We're in the final phases of testing and tweaking and hope to be ready to release the full, free, stand-alone game Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory early next week. Check out the official site, www.castlewolfenstein.com, for more information.

Thanks for the thread, I wouldn't have played most of the afternoon if you didn't post - between periods of the Wild-ANA game at least. So I got a few hours of diversified fun for free - I think it's worthwhile. Quality free stuff is good, cruddy free demos are not so good and is why some people will always be negative on any post like this- also rightfully so. If you make a judgement call for a post that only half the people will be happy, only half the people will appreciate it and as for the others .. well not every post is for everyone.

go blow it out your ass.

That must have taken a lot of thnking to come up with that one.

and your comeback was any better? Quit bitchin people... the original was great, and this addon is great... it launched w/o any fanfare, so... IMHO, its nice to see it posted here. i'd say that >50% of AT'rs only look at FS/FT and Hot Deals. SO... if cool stuff like this gets posted, thats free!, i'm all for it. NOW, if its some worthless utility thats been always free... thats a different issue.

grr,
shark

PS: i dont think sharks growl... but i guess i'm too pissed at seeing AT go down the tubes to care

This game really needs alot of work, I am on cable and DSL hookups in my house and I still find it hard to AIM at people with the lag and people jumpin around. Enemy identification really suks too, its way too easy to shoot your own team by accident. If they can get fluid movement like in BF1942 or Tribes2 then this game will be worth the cost when its finished, but right now since it free its just a fun side distraction from regular games. So far my favorite is hiding in bushes calling ART support or jumpin on placement guns and spreading my luv thru lead Still havent gotten the scope zoom to work for some reason.

The full game will be released for free when it's finished. Right now it's in testing, hence the multiplayer test you see

I think it may be a client side problem... many of the servers I get listed I ping usually <100 and is quite smooth (oddly enough, I got the exact opposite problem w/1942 (total lag and packet loss )) I don't think the ID is a problem - the only thing you have to look out for are spies, as axis look like nazis and allies look like GI's. For spy's, if no name pop's up on the mouse over your teammate, a enemy spy is in disguise. You can also look at the map in the top corner to see your allies.

The zoom works for me . . . I just hit secondary for scope, then I hit "F" for zooming in - there is an option for it in the Options menu.

Isn't this game based off of RTCW? RTCW works perfectly for me with none of the problems you describe. I get somewhere around 60 to 85fps at 1152x864 with all details at max and 16x AF on a 2000+ Radeon 8500LE and 512MB DDR

for those of you on broadband, type in the console (~ key)

/rate 25000

should help a lot with you lag problems

for some reason even if you set it in the GUI, it doesn't go to 25000

----------------------------

As for identifying teammates, it really easy:

1. Teammates aren't shooting at you
2. Teammates usually aren't coming at you (if you see 3 dots moving toward you, you can be sure they are badguys)
3. When you put you mouse over a teammate, their health will appear.
4. The Axis look slightly different then the allies. The Axis look wider at the bottom because they have a coat, while the allies look thiner because they have no coat.
5. Axis are black, allies a yellow, green puke color

-----------------------------

Any more q's post em here, I play RTCW competitively and can answer all of em probably
