how is your corporate lan set up? as long as the router supports ipsec and tunneling i think it should work

my company has a nortel "dialer" for vpn, i get this RSA SecurEID with a changing token code that i input to the "dialer"

once connected i am vpn'ed in to the company, and i lose connectivity on my personal home network until i disconnect the dialer

OK, here's one: I have 4 IP addresses from my ISP. On any of the Linksys routers I have tried so far, I can only use ONE of those, but can forward ports to different boxes. What I WANT to do is map the 3 remaining IP addresses to 3 INTERNAL servers (actually 2 servers and an XBox) so I can serve web content and whatnot behind the firewall but using the different IP addresses. I noticed that the Belkin Wireless G router CAN take the additional IP's and let me work with them (A buddy of mine has one that I configured), but i have yet to find another one that can do this.

Does this firmware enable such functionality?

Thanks!

Jason

Not in the 192.168.1.X range but our own internal 10.10.x range? And how easy would that be able to setup?

as in VPN...

NAT baby.....basically you create a NAT pool of those 4 as globals and then create an internal pool based on the pool or individual globals...either way I know the cisco method, put pulling that off with my wrt54gs..well..I'd rather not fathom it...

well, my ISP is DSLExtreme, and I have a 3000/768 DSL connection with 4 static IP's. I have a friend with the same setup, and we used a Belkin router with hers (a 54g wireless, I forget the exact model #) and it was a SNAP to add the additional IP addresses and map them to internal ports. I was hoping this firmware would do the same thing

I'm sorry. Not VPN. Just on the LAN, To give users the ability within the company to roam wirelessly. And still be connected to our internal network without VPNing in.

Because with routers, normally you get assigned a 192.168.1.X IP if you are connected to it. I was wondering if the Router can be used to hand out our LAN Ip.

although i havent tried it, it would make sense that you could turn off the DHCP feature on the router so that it pulls addresses from your main DHCP server.

Where can i get help on the VPN feature for this firmware.

here is my setup and problem

Internet > oldLinksysRouter > SveasoftRouter(DHCP off) > manyComputers

I try to vpn to the SveasoftRouter(DHCP off) from inside the network and it works fine. But when i forward port 1723 to SveasoftRouter(DHCP off) from the oldLinksysRouter I cannot access VPN from outside the network.

Thanks,
Bob

What should my Firmware Version say after I upgrade to the Satori 4.0? It still says Firmware Version: V2.07.1 on my linksys.

Mine says "Firmware Version: Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7sv".

Have you tried resetting your router?

Oops. I figured it out. I flashed the G version of the firmware. I have the GS router. All fixed now. Yay! Now, which firmware do I need to get that capture port feature, kind of like those internet cafe hot spots?

Any good deals on this router? The custom firmwares out for it sound appealing and I'd like to get one.

Mine has been doing this lately. The problem seems to be made worse when I run bit torrent. Without bit torrent the router needs to be restarted on average once a week. With BT it is probably every other day. The problem is also made worse be allowing a large number of peers in BT. I have also noticed that when the router seems to be locked up it still responds to already established connections (i.e. can still communicate with already connected BT peers). I am currently running Satori 4. I am thinking there is some NAT table problem. Anyone have any ideas? I guess I am going to try an Alchemy firmware.

Okay, how do you make money using this software:

Easy, I will pay you.

I have a very simple configuration but am not comfortable with VPN/DHCP/WPA/static IP/ etc terminology....

If somebody would consider walking me through the steps to utilize the software codes available
to get the fastest possible speed and longest distance while providing security, I would be willing
to pay you via paypal $10-20 (whatever you decide).

This is the hardware that I have:

1 ) WRT54GS
2) Desktop Win XP hardwire into router
3) IBM thinkpad on Win XP using mini-pci G card.
4) Ordered (en route) Belkin print server

If somebody could walk me through the best software to download for this hadware configuration
and setting up the software for maximum speed/stability/etc.... I would be willing to pay you.

Since we are talking about downloading 3rd party software, the manufacturer can't help me get set up.
And, if there is a problem, I am not comfortable how to restore to my original setup.

So, my ignorance is your gain.

If you are interested in earning a small dollar amount and a large token of my appreciation, please
PM me.

Thanks

Anthony

Well, here is for the ignorant:

1) What is the best link for the latest software download?

2) Is there anyway to restore my router if it gets totally screwed up?

3) What is the best configuration to run a safe environment.

4) Most importantly:
a) Where
b) do
c) I
d) begin?
