Cool free trees are cool, spruce don't usually grow worth a crap around here so Oak it is.
Of course with the huge oaks in my backyard I have saplings everywhere but those aren't INTERNET saplings!
I remember when I was like 11 years old, my neighbor up the road got 1000 (yes that is one thousand) baby pine trees from some deal thru the mail, he had like heck 2 acres of land I think (think: room for 30 pine trees at MOST) so he gave like everyone around free pine trees.
Everyone up and down the road planted those pine trees in front of their pastures (we lived in the country) and in their yards, many RIGHT UNDER the power lines....
My dad told me he'd give me a dime for every one I planted in this one square of our yard, so I planted like 11 rows of like 7 trees each in this 1/2 acre square he said plant. Bastard never did pay me either.
Those pines are 30 or 40 feet tall now, most of the ones planted along the front of people's land were mauled and get re-mauled every few years by the road crews who cut trees off power lines. I bet no less than 80 pine trees were planted up and down the little road we lived on RIGHT SMACK under those power lines, I mean RIGHT UNDER the lines. Some people just don't think ahead.
