It's there, look closer. You may be looking near the bottom of your add/remove programs list where the *W*indows hotfixes are instead of where the *I*nternet Explorer hotfixes are.
Except that instead of fixing the very useful
http://userassword@www.site.com and
ftp://userassword@ftp.isp.com URLs, they've simply disabled them completely. A shame, because IE works very well as an FTP client.
Gripe gripe gripe. It still works just fine as an FTP client. Just select file | login as...
If they would have left it as is and simply caused it to display
ftp://user: pass@blah instead of the (unpatched)
ftp://blah everyone would just gripe that it's still not fixed and that even displaying the full url wouldn't stop grandma from being suckered into clicking that totally unsolicited and never seen before email from her bank that strangely asks for the account info they should already know.
Tough on security or weak on security, there's always going to be a crowd of people with pitchforks and torches outside MS's door.
