I wonder if this works any better than Utilites 3.0. The program caused more problems than it fixed plus the Uninstall didn't work so you were stuck with it! Like the idea of the utilities, but don't know if I'll ever trust Symantec again.

db, I too am looking for a good deal on 2001. I think there is a $20 rebate for it. I searched pricegrabber for the lowest. No good deals out there. In fact many places were out of stock. What a ripoff that we have to buy a whole new program because we have win2k or winme.

I have Norton System Works 2000 on both of my systems. The defrag routine alone makes it worth getting -- many times faster than scandisk and much more robust. I also use Speed Disk since it allows me to move the swap file to the front of my fastest drive -- which you can do with some effort without speed disk, but why work when you don't have too. The Crash Guard is worthless. I also use the Fast and Safe cleanup part of CleanSweep -- does a reliable and pretty efficient cleanup after a net session. The Antivirus is tops of course, and they update monthly. I thought Norton Utilities 3.0 was worse than a virus, but I have been satisfied with SW 2000. I'm not pushing it, just thought some of you might be interested in getting it for free. I didn't get mine for free, unfortunately. I bought it on one of the CompUSA specials at a big savings, but not for free.

I swear by System Works 2000. All of the programs have been streamlined and seem to run much faster and more efficiently. Crashguard, as said here, is absolutely terrible. DON'T install it. It will give you more headaches than anything else.

WinDoctor, to my complete surprise, actually solved a number of quirky Windows problems I was having. And Diskdoctor remains the best way to get a damaged hard disk/floppy/zip/whatever working again.

Many of us got SystemWorks 2K free from these guys a couple months back when they threw it in as part of another promotion.

I've dealt with msbcd.com. I've been pleased with everything I've ordered, hands down. As for SystemWorks/Internet Security/Norton Utilities being obsolete? Nah, just not the latest and greatest. If you're set on running Win2000 or Me, yeah, the 2001 products are about the only bet. The price with coupons/rebate(s) shouldn't be 'too' bad, but it'd be spiffer than spiff if we could get a cheaper upgrade.

i have system works 2k. i only installed antivirus, utilities and cleansweep, and since i have the pro version, ghost.

i have used cleansweep for several years, since before symantec bought it. cleansweep ROCKS, there are drawbacks, but it ROCKS for what is out there...

and we know the story about crashguard... it SUCKS.

utilities only has a few useful features, and 2 MUST HAVEs, disk doctor (scandisk) and speed disk (defrag).

antivirus is still one of the best ones out there.

and ghost, well, i can't live without it.

last week i got a FREE copy of NORTON SYSTEMS WORKS 2000 (a NFR copy). I cannot remember where i saw the post, but all i did was fill out a short survey and they sent me the CD within 3 weeks.

i would do a search for "norton" on this forum or FW, and see if you can find that old post.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can goto Amazon.com and buy Norton. They'll include a $20 Gift Certificate for there software section. Just a heads up...
