Crap, I signed up for this a month ago and fully expected to get Vista instead of Office 07 ... XP was given out at similar launches when MS rolled that out at their events, so I was very interested in attending a show. Now it looks like I lost at least one free Vista license ... holding out for the Vista offer for watching the webinars.

Just signed up for Louisville, KY. I thought I was signing up for a 1-5 deal, but it stuck me in an 8-12 class. I figure I'll use Office 2007 for a few years, might as well get it for free.

This does NOT look like something for average joes. It's pretty clear to me that they want developers and other IT professionals to sign up. Also, they have a disclaimer about governmental employees only using it for evaluation purposes due to ethics rules.

I'd have to fake information on their registration form and then sit through almost an entire day of lectures and break-out sessions (the pin is given out at the end of the day). It doesn't sound worth it to me, but it sounds like a sweet deal if you're in the industry.

It's not entire days. You can sign up for individual 4-hour blocks. I'm not missing something and have to sign up for an entire day to get my free Office Pro do I?

I guess I'm sort of in the industry, though. I'm an MCP, and although low on the food chain, it's something, right?
