Awesome! Thanks, OP! Thursday is my day off and the Tampa one is next week! If no one else posts by then, I'll post pictures and a small recap of what happened for those of you who's nearby-event isn't for another week or so.

Damn, do you really have to stay 8:00AM - 3:30PM? 7 1/2 hours? That's crazy!

Hmm....7.5 hrs of MS propaganda = free MS office + free snacks....is it really worth it?

Well, maybe I can talk the boss into going too lol.

Hell, for those of us with nothing else to do I think it's a good deal. I usually waste my Thursdays looking for things to keep me busy so this works for me.

I asked myself the same question, and to get a $459 piece of software (albeit not a retail version), I think it's well worth the $50 + gas I'll lose for half a day's work. I'll be able to use Office 2007 for years to come.

Mine is only a few minutes away but I have a lot of "academic" connections for cheap MS software. I have a few holiday hours from last year that I could use so I'll probably go.

EDIT: I don't think you have to go the whole day, I think you have to go to at least 1 four-hour session.

Too bad registration starts at noon, or I'd go to the one in Atlantic City. I've got class, unfortunately.

Screw class. Everybody i have talked to at my school (CS Students) are taking at least half of the day off to go to it. Our afternoons are typically project stuff anyways, so I told my project group about it and we are all going to go. I consider it a field trip for the group

just got back from the first event in des moines, did the it track pro, some cool features, especially for exchange.

just a quick fyi, if the presenter asks for anybody to assist him, those people that help with get a subscription to technet for their troubles

now i have a copy of office 2007 that i don't need (happy with 2003). If anybody wants to trade for something, i'm open to offers

From what I've been reading, it looks like to get Office you just need to go to one of the sessions, and not be there for the whole day. Can someone who has already been to one of these please verify that?

Thanks!

if u schedule to go to one of the sessions, u can pick up your free gift at the end of the session, if u r scheduled for all day, u pick it up at the end of the day (so either noon or 5pm)

Nah, I just got back from the one in Indianapolis. If you're registered for the whole day, you can pick it up at noon or five. I was registered for the whole day but declined to attend the afternoon presentation & picked mine up at noon.

Got mine today in Indy.

Edit: The talks were a waste of time unless you're interested in nothing but show-and-tell and no real technical knowledge transfer. If I could do it all over again I would have only taken a few hours off work instead of the entire day.

For those of you that went already, what exactly did you get? did you get a hard copy of office or just a link to where to download it and a key code?

The freebie bag contained a light-up pen (mine doesn't work!), a pad of paper, a black Microsoft "Ready for a New Day" launch tshirt, some informational flyers, two 30% off Microsoft certification exam vouchers (no free vouchers this time - but it looks like anyone can get the discount by going to www.microsoft.com/learning/launch), and the resource kit with the resource CD, a link to download Office 2007 Pro, and a full-version key.

Can you confirm that a person will qualify for the frebbies if they only sign up for one seminar (one-half day)? That's what I've done.
