Free official MS office 2013?

A friend just sent me a link, to "MS Office 2013 Professional Plus free edition", and wondered if it was legit.

Ordinarily, I would say no, and I'm leaning in that direction, except...

I thought I heard rumors of a free, ad-supported version of MS office that MS was considering.

Did they actually release that? Or is this just warez? (Most likely, IMHO, but I though I would ask.)

I don't think I would click that link. Could be a spam bot that got ahold of one of your friends accounts. If you need free office software there is openoffice or libreoffice which works great and plays well with most formats. If you want MS Office, Office 2010 can be found cheap and there are free online versions of Office if you have a Onedrive account.

There's no way in hell ProPlus would be free.

There was an ad-supported Starter edition back with Office 2010, but that was discontinued with 2013. If they do another free, ad-supported version, it'll be something like that: a Starter edition with limited apps and limited functionality. Not the enterprise-grade volume-licensed ProPlus.

I think MS Office for college students is "free" if you conveniently forget that the cost is built in to the tuition paid each year. Otherwise, no, it's not free. They just put out a new pricing package on Office 365, I think $60/year for one pc and a tablet.

Not really. To get 2010 cheap you're most likely buying a counterfeit copy, in which case it's a ripoff if you pay anything above free.

Definitely bogus. They released Office for iPhone a week or so ago, which is free (iPad version needs a 365 subscription to function). 2013 Professional Plus is not free.

Or you could actually know what you're doing and be buying it from a reputable source. Cheap is also relative. All that being said it is cheaper than buying 2013 if cost savings is what you're after

Go to microsofthup.com and enter your work email to check if your employer participates. Mine does, cost was $9.95 plus S/H.

Patek Philippe----makes, and has made forever, the finest timepieces on the planet. Not Rolex..... PATEK. And, some of the vintage ones.....are beyond belief. But also, off the chain expensive.

I will get a link......and trust me, finding one discarded in the trash of this building is always in the back of my INSANELY OPTIMISTIC little brain.
