(Also note that Outlook has been banned from the mailing list because of of the inherent security risk it poses to the rest of the subscribers.)"

Does the Outlook comment mean if you use Outlook (what about Outlook Express) you will not be able to participate? I don't understad this. Is there a way to determine what email program someone is using?

in email header outlook sends the following:

I beg to differ. My company's linux server, just got a virus. Of all the wonderful windows machines, the linux machine had to get attacked.

I think you mean it got attacked by a bunch of infected windoze machines.
There are no linux viruses, just programs that emulate them.

I signed up for this like a year ago, they setup a mailing list, changed it, and then i never heard anything about it ever again. The site hasnt changed in all that time. ANywone actually go through this all the way?

I think you mean it got attacked by a bunch of infected windoze machines.

You can write a virus for linux, but the security is done the right way on that system, the virus would be very limited in what it could do and probably not even work at all. But if you are runnin as root, then you could be in trouble.

It'd be an excellent resource, but yeah, I agree books are the way to go. Is it true that techies hate libraries? (Maybe just getting up and *going* to the library is what we hate hehe)

Yeah, the "No Hotmail, etc." part makes it sound even fishier since people pay more for real addresses than for free account lists...pretty fishy. Nobody else seems to have received anything. I'm not signing up. I can go to the forbidden place

i have received a mailing lists confirmation number, but nothing more...i did happened to come across the class site while searching for background info. the link gives a more detailed look at the class, but you need a log/pass to access the schedule and assignments link. anyone receive a log/pass yet?
