<< Ordered this, hope I get it. I had been thinking about buying a Koran, but free is alway better. Not much chance I'll be converting to Islam, but since we're going to be dealing with Muslim extremism in this country for the forseeable future it's good to know where they're coming from (that whole "know thy enemy" thing). >>

Wow, there are some really ignorant people on this forum, I?m not a Muslim but it was pretty strange reading through all the posts....and the comment about knowing they enemy was really unnecessary
>>

And my statement was ignorant why? Do you deny that the the primary enemies of the United States (and therefore my enemies, since I'm an American) profess to be Muslim? That they cite the Koran as justification for their destructive actions?

I don't believe (and didn't say) that all Muslims are anti-American terrorists, but that doesn't change the fact that all (or nearly all) anti-American terrorists are Muslims. It's for that reason that I'm interested in this hot deal for a free Koran, just as I was interested in the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital during the Cold War.

But you're right that there are ignorant people on this forum--one of them has been typing your posts.

Bob92 --
Sorry to be OT, but your enemies are not Muslims or Islam, and the sooner you realize that the better off you will be. And making the comparison between the Quran and the Communist Manifesto or Das Kapital is a bit off. But hopefully you will get a chance to read the Quran and realize that for yourself, that this is a Holy book similar to the Bible and Torah or any other religious work, and if has existed for centuries leading many people to live peaceful lives--if you are going to site a few mislead terrorists who happen to claim to be Muslims, then I think you should also bring to light the other side as well, the many more good Muslims of our time and time past. The information is all out there, but if you wish to twist it to only see evil and hate then you are doing no better than the terrorists. I commend your efforts to learn more, but suggest that you come into it with a more open mind. Thank you.

<< Is Islam evil? I really don't know. They say let action speak for itself. So far, all I have seen is Muslim terrorist blowing us up. >>

Um....well most Muslims only know the US from the fact that it bombed Iraq, leads the way in objecting to the removal of economic sanctions imposed on Iraq, supports the Arab world's number one enemy, Israel which is still occupying Arab land despite UN resolutions. That's not all their is to the US, of course, but many of them are only aware of that, and it's that limited perspective that led to the hatred against the US and 9/11. Now, most Muslims at least have the excuse that their news is filtered and censored, and they have limited access to any information outside of the government owned media outlets. On the other hand, we in the US have nearly unprecedented access to any information we want. So if the only Muslims you're aware of are the ones who are terrorists, then you aren't looking very hard. There are 1 billion Muslims in the world. There have been, what, maybe a few hundred that have committed terrorist acts? Let's say the number is 1,000. That's 1/10,000th of 1 percent of Muslims. Not exactly a statistically valid sample. That's like saying there are 1,000 Chinese who really hate the US so I guess anyone from China is evil.

It might be a good idea to pick up the Quran and read it, whether it's this free one or one from your public library. You'll be surprised at how similar it is to the Old and New Testaments. Of course, what's written in the Quran is subject to interpretation, like all holy books. There are dozens of demoninations of Christianity that all believe their interpretation of the Bible is the correct one.
