Well...I've been using a crack for this program for a looong time. I guess it'll feel good to go legit.

After over 1000 downloads, I got an email from Google saying they were cancelling my adsense account (where I would get money for the two ads on the site I was mirroring the files on) for "invalid clicks". I'd been with them for around a year and had gotten to almost $50. They only pay once you reach $100. Needless to say, I was a little aggravated. I don't know if I'll even see they money they owe me.

In any case, I've put a donation link up in hopes of offsetting some of the hosting/bandwidth costs for the many files hosted on MissingBytes.net. I didn't want it to come off like I was now trying to get money for mirroring the files without explaining why I'd put the donate button on the site.

Note that I will be leaving the file mirrored until the registration link goes down or I'm told to take it down.

Maybe this is just me... others seem to be having success with this software.

But after I installed this and ran a full scan, it found over 100 problems (this is a fresh install of Windows, along with Visual Studios and SQL Server Std 2005, as of Friday).

I did not go ahead with the fixes, just closed the program, as it kept saying a bunch of the SQL Server registry entries were wrong (I didn't believe it as it is a fresh install).

Anyway, it totally screwed up my PC - Windows stopped responding, could not launch or open any window, etc. Had to hard reset a few times. Because Registry Mechanic starts up automatically, it made it a bit more difficult to fix. I eventually got the program to not load at startup, then restored the system to before I installed this program.

Now my PC is fine, just like before I installed it.

As the old adage goes... if it ain't broken, don't fix it. IMHO.

Nope, me too. Installed this on my computer and it found 485 fixes. I let it fix and everything started OK then I was getting BSOD every hour or two. I run F@H so my CPU is running 100%, 24/7, and the crashes kept happening. I must have rebooted 50-60 times over the last several days trying to see what was causing it to crash. Anything CPU intensive would crash the computer, such as running benchmarks. I googled a little into this Reg Mech and found people who had problems with it. I restored by way of Registry Mechanic to the pre-Reg Mech timeframe and removed the program. Still has a couple glitches but it's nearly back to normal. As you said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm sorry to hear about your issues Etan and esquared, maybe it's a bug with the program? I'm glad to hear that everything's fine. As I said before, these type of registry cleaner can mess up your system, so be careful with it.

I'm wondering, does anyone else have any issues or notice any significant improvement in system performance after running this program?

Nice, I'll give it a shot (after imaging just in case.)

I still use jv16, even tho I have to set the windows date back to 2003 before running it.

You don't have to.
You can use this version, which is what I use without any problems and without having to change the date.

Excellent, thx. My version was 13.0196, while your's is version 13.0195. I already had a copy of this one but didn't realize that only the latest version had an expiration date.

Thanks. Good stuff.

I've been using Registry Mechanic in addition to my other tools for awhile. It finds some registry problems Norton WinDoctor misses, and Norton finds some that Registry Mechanic misses so, like Ad-Aware and Spybot, they are complimentary.

Registry Mechanic gives you the option to create a Windows Restore Point before it makes any changes so you can always undo the changes it makes if it should cause any problems, but I've never had to reverse any changes it makes.

Disaster struck when I 'Compacted' the registry, making windows unbootable. Until then things were fine.

Always image the system partition when possible before messing with the registry. System restore points are ok, but most are like me and don't know how to do a restoration from the windows cd if windows suddenly won't boot.
