I'll give one a try...but ouch....$.89 each

As an alternative:

Just get regular CD/DVD printable media, print on it, then use a spray can of clear coat spraypaint. I like the satin textured stuff myself....gives a very nice coat.

Using this method will result in %100 water proof prints.... I betcha I can make these "Hyroshield" disks smudge. Every use cleaner like Windex or 409 on a CD to clean up finger prints??? Get some on your fingers and rub the printed disc....smudge...

Neato find regardless!!! Kewl!

I'm hopeful the price will go down over time because .89 cents is to pricey for them.

I think using chemical cleaners is just asking a little too much of your media, lol. For one thing the polycarbonate might end up absorbing the cleaner bit by bit and end up damaging the data layer so it's not the greatest of ideas to begin with (which is why they tell you not to use Sharpies to label your CDs-you're supposed to use those special CD markers).

I received my envelope from discmakers that had everything but the sample blank Hydroshield disc. A phone call to the company and they are sending out a sample disc (I hope).

While spraying discs is a solution to smudging, it is a pain in the rear which is why I hope these new discs will be all they claim to be. Eventually the price will go down and we all will have better looking and longer lived media.

Marker pens with petroleum based solvents like Sharpie permanent markers are potentially damaging to media. Sharpie does make a marking pen (model 37035) specifically for CD/DVD media which is safe(r).

my .02 cents, it doesn't exactly say on the site if these disc's will print high resolution. But, in the past I ordered some hi-rez printable media, without the smudge protection and they were around 65 cents a disk. Printing the same lable on them, and one on a regular printable CD, the hi-rez one looks MUCH BETTER! I would be interested in these disc's if they hit the 70 cent range, and really didn't smudge.

Whoever gets a sample print and try the running it under the water to clean it test *how I clean my discs* doubt it could stand up to that, but would be cool if they do

I been in the duplication business for quite awhile and there are better "Hydroshield" or "Tuff Coat" media out there for better prices. The print quality is fantastic on these btw, I just wouldn't pay the price on their Hydroshield branded name.

I do a lot of discs, and am too lazy to spray a coating on them to keep the color from running if they get wet. What disc's would you recommend? I don't care if the media's TY, infact the last few batches of TY I've gotten wern't up to spec. looking for a high resolution surface and some sort of smudge coating. Right now order all my media from Meritline but they don't seem to have much speciality printable media at all...

Well there is a huge problem, I can't advertise my own business here. I been a member of Anandtech for such a long period of time and I have no negatives about myself. Basically you can get 100 for 75 dollars shipped. Those are in 2 cake boxes. The prices have been coming down, it started out at 108 for 100, bout 2 months ago.
