i didn't want to sound mean but last year i had the sam's mebership, i went there maybe 10 days in the whole year, the only thing cheap were a few things for me, and i have a family where i buy lots of food, but if you take a loook at the prices you can get exacly the same prices or cheaper at walmart or any other groceries store. now if you go there and buy maybe let's say 10 DVD"s a year you will be saving maybe 3 r 4 bucks a DVD, that will pay you the memebership...i still buy them from the web...so be careful with those things, oh beer and chicken is more expensive or the same than any store for me, so why buy the membership? not to mention the meat...

Welcome to Anandtech. Hopefully this place will help you find some good deals, and maybe you'll even find a deal or two to contribute.
TextI've got a Costco membership where I live, and pay $45 a year. It's a little steep, but the things I buy pay for it in the long run. Got a spindle of TDKs, 50 CDs plus cases for $20. Anywhere else the cases alone would be $20 for 25 and I got 50.
Plain old Wal-mart has had the same prices, without a membership.
The most I've payed for 50 cases is $10, and that's the slim cases. And, as far as CD-R's go... if you do some searches on here for CD-R deals, you'll find that your $45 membership is saving you less money than you would save by watching the forums. Good luck on finding the deals!

No good in Cary, NC. The guy typed in all my information, then when he asked another lady what to do with a coupon, she took a quick look at it, said "yeah, this is that one from Washington. " Apparently many people already tried this scam at that location.

Couldn't talk them into it...

Wife has a membership....but I won't pay extra for my own card. She gets Food and cleaning stuff there cheap. Every once in a while I grab a battery for the car or cycle.....cheapest place for batteries. They get $30 for Big Yamaha Battery ...if I go to bike shop they want like $80. I can't getem to last longer than two years.

If you want to pass one over on sams, open up the sams_club_back in photoshop and put in two local sams club stores instead of the aurburn ones.

Actually, I bought a car using my Costco membership got a sweet deal and no hassle from the dealer. Went in, opened a Costco Pricing binder, told me the price and that was it. The $45 just for that was well worth it. The CDs, Food, Electronics and whatnot is just a bonus now.

It worked for me..
It's the regular membership, that comes with a complimentary "spouse" card. As long as the person lives on the same address, it doesn't have to me a real spouse.

This might be slightly off topic, but if you work for some good companies, ask your HR dept and see if they have a discount with them. My dad's company had a corporate deal where groups of 3 employees (or spouses) could get a card for $35 total...

The copy of the coupon did not work in Bloomington, Indiana. They said they needed the real coupon because they send a certain number out to individual people. I tried to tell them that it was just a barcode and that it was the same on several coupons, but they did not listen. Oh well. Nice post anyways, and I'm glad some people got in on it.

No go in Buffalo. "This coupon was supposed to be given to one company and they gave it to everyone." I used the coupon with the Seattle locations on the image. I think I may try later in Jamestown, with the "clean" version.

Mine worked in Rochester.... I gave a few to some family members too
and just to be safe, I edited out the map/name/address of the seattle stores and replaced it with the location/address/phone# of the two Rochester SAMS locations

For those of you who got stupid cashiers and got in on this, great for you!

For those of you who are screaming fraud please look at what you are doing. Anyone with common sense can see that this coupon was only meant for those 2 stores (otherwise the stores would not be getting memos not to accept it). They made a mistake by not specifically stating that. I can't stand people who get mad when companies won't allow you to rip them off (it's called fraud, since the coupon is vague it's not technically fraud but in reality it is fraud). Try it out, if it doesn't work then you haven't lost anything. You people are just as bad as the lady who got millions of dollars from McDonalds for being dumb and spilling coffee on herself and saying she wasn't warned it was hot. Please, relax a bit...

Of course I know that I will be flamed for my opinion but that's ok. I'm sick of seeing people getting pissed when they aren't allowed to abuse the system....

You know that lady only ended up getting a couple of hundred thousand dollars. The judge felt it was too much and lowered the amount she got. And all she was trying to sue for was her medical bills and the jury was the ones who gave her all that money.
