"Free" Sirius Satellite Radio?

I noticed that the Sirius satellite radio in my car magically started working again a few months after canceling my subscription, and has been working for the past few weeks. At first I thought that it was a free trial of sorts to get me to subscribe again, but it just kept working! Odd.

The weird thing is that not all of channels work... Howard Stern (for example) is still unavailable.

Has anyone else experienced this, or am I just lucky?

they turn them on once in a while to try to lure you back. but its usually only for a week.

I did have a friend who once bought a sirius radio for a merceds C class, and the guy he bought i twas a radio installer and knew how to set it into "demo" mode like dealers have. somehow that kept the radio working with most but not all channels for 9 months.

Weird once in a while I get random channels on my sirius radio and I haven't even activated it yet

I think someone misunderstood what "Mobile Devices" meant.

Yes, they turn it on once in a while for a 'free 10 days' or such. They usually advertise these though, to make sure you don't miss it, so they can get you to resubscribe.

I've also heard of people's radio mistakenly get turned back on for what seem like indefinite time. These are usually a result of administrative mistake (typo of radio ID while turning someone else's account, etc) and will get turned back off as soon as they figured it out.

they have been doing it for years. my last two cars have had it. i never listen to it and don't subscribe but once in a while when i go out and give the car to the valet it comes back on the XM setting and it works

Hey now... A Sirius radio is both a "mobile device" and a "gadget", no?

I guess that I could have went into AV/Home Theater as well.
