Those locations where the employees/managers are telling folks that they are not reimbursed by Quiznow corporate speak with forked tongues. They are reimbursed for the cost of the sandwich, and they will get some new customers in the process.
This person speaks with a forked brain. I have said this before in a previous post, but, as a Quiznos owner, corporate does NOT reimburse the franchisee for this offer. We lose money on each coupon.
As for the new customer, yes, to some extent. Mostly it is people like this person quoted above who just want to punish the business and get stuff for free. He won't end up being a valuable customer no matter what.
This offer was designed to introduce people to Quiznos and hope that they enjoy it and come back. It had good intent. However, it does no one any good when some jerk copies a thousand of them and stands in front of your store handing them out or stands in your lobby distributing them to ty and make himself look some sort of benefactor.
Guys that own these stores aren't millionaires. When franchisees reject the coupon, it is most likely because someone was doing the same to him. When people abuse the coupons to that extent, it ruins it for everyone.

This sounds a bit like that Billy Crystal skit involving a jewish storeowner. "Get out of my store NOW, G*d****it!"
How can you possibly think that bringing new customers into your place of business, by offering things "at cost" for a limited time, and having them take advantage of that offer, is "punishing" your business.
Maybe that's why you're not so well off with your franchise, you sound like you would prefer it if customers simply never bothered you. Perhaps you will get your wish soon enough.
Myself, I've never stepped foot inside a Quizno's, even though I recently discovered that there actually is one near me. This coupon almost made me visit, but judging by the widely-varied reactions to this coupon promotion, it sounds like the franchise chain needs to get its act together with regards to promotions. It sounds pretty ghetto on the whole. (And the store location near me, actually is in the ghetto part of the city.)

selling stuf "at cost" does not allow one to make enough money to pay for the lease nor to pay employees. if everyone has the coupon, how is money to be made?

You may want to read what I said again closely.
I said :

However, it does no one any good when some jerk copies a thousand of them and stands in front of your store handing them out or stands in your lobby distributing them to try and make himself look some sort of benefactor.
I love bringing new customers in and I always welcome them. It is entirely in my best interest to see them walk out happy and satisfied. I took the coupon and happily lost money. If anyone is ever unhappy in any way, I buy their lunch for them and give them a free lunch to come back another time. Its not a cheap lunch by "fast food" standards. That is why I work so hard to make sure its worth the extra dollar or two.

People took advantage of the coupon, however, and came back 3 or four times a day. They altered the coupon in photoshop. One guy even made many copies and sprinkled them around my store. That is what I meant by "punishing" my business.
It puzzles me that you can read what I said and draw that conclusion. I bend over backwards to make make customers happy, even "know-it-alls" like you.

DiGi2.....I don't think anyone misinterpreted your words. You said you are losing money on every coupon. BS. You are reimbursed for the cost of every sandwich as long as you submit the coupon to corporate - they deduct the coupons total from the cost of your meat order. The coupon requires that one purchase a fountain drink and bag of chips which are the biggest profit margin items anyway. What is your profit on a $1.35 fountain drink ? So, you do not lose money on each coupon. You don't bitch when someone walks into your place and spends $2.50 for a drink and bag of chips. Why bitch when you also hand them a sandwich with that purchase, for which you are reimbursed the cost of the sandwich ? If some percentage of those folks are repeat customers after the promotion ends, you still come out way ahead.
You probably complain about everything else too. But don't say again that you lose money on every coupon, unless you mean it in the sense that you also lose money on everyone that walks by your front door and doesn't come in and buy something.
Where is your store located anyhow ?

Phoney Coupon
Perhaps you could indulge me a little bit. I looked at that, and my monitor isn't so good, so some of the text is a bit hard to read, but it is still barely legible. What exactly has been modified in that coupon? I couldn't find anything out-of-place, the legalese looks pretty boilerplate and standard. Was something removed? I have not seen the "real" or "original" coupon, so I have nothing to directly compare to.

expiration date says 8/31/2003 instead of 7/31/2003 which is what the original had

Also the complete removal of the word "SMALL" from the coupon. Seriously, some people (the person who photochopped this coupon) have no class. :disgust:
