BitTorrent is a P2P file sharing program sometimes used to distribute large files such as linux distributions. If you have BitTorrent installed on your machine, the Torrent file referenced above will allow the P2P downloading of the World Wind program.

Guys, did you read my post - http://www.twobeds.com/nasa/worldwind-1_2.zip and also get the patch - http://www.twobeds.com/nasa/WorldWind_v1_2c.exe - it fixes the resolution depth typo so you don't need to edit worldlayers.xml, plus a few other things. Easier than messing with BitTorrent if you've not got it

There's also some cached data on there, see the txts for what's in there

Edit. Oh ok, I see now those were taken using the USGS. When I use it, I don't get that good of a picture, and I don't get any color at all.


Also, is anyone running this well on a lower-end video card? I'd love to recommend this to people that have broadband but don't have anything close to what I have in regards to my x800 card. I imagine it wouldn't be a difference if they were using the USGS, but the 3D Landsat 7 is what will make this thing sweet as hell once bandwidth is available.

I'm on a 9200 - it's fine (apart from when you change the vertical orientation and move around that way, it's a bit jerky then). Voodoo3 and below won't work due to the texture sizes involved.

There is a file in the "C:\Program Files\NASA\World Wind v1.2\Configuration" folder called "WorldWindParameters.xml". If you look at this you see an entry for "<CacheSizeMegabytes>2000</CacheSizeMegabytes>". Couldn't you just edit this file from 2000 to whatever size you'd want to cache locally? Or, maybe there is more to it than that? Once Landsat is working again, I could see where it'd be pretty easy to exceed 2GB and it'd be kinda cool not to have to re-download earlier data (at least not as often). I might try doing this myself and see what happens, I'll post my results. Later!
