This defense of free speech warms my heart. I hope you'd feel the same if it were Obama, Bernie or Hillary's head (or other hero of the left.)

It seems odd, though, that the same people defending this beheading-art are the same ones happy to shut down speeches of anyone they dislike....
[incongruity error]

Have you ever considered that it's entirely possible that you have absolutely no clue what people here think, outside of the preferred projections you design on what you wish them to think?

It doesn't matter. We're a homogeneous mass out to restrict him based on his views.

Somewhere around the time 0bama took office for his first term I said something along the lines of berating the President is more or less a national pastime. Oooh, boy did I get torn up for saying that. Many were absolutely not going to stand for any disparaging of 0bama. No siree.

I should look up that post and see who in this thread is cool with the bloody Trump head.

Having said that I vote for both. Who gives a shit? The fact that it's Kathy Griffin makes it even more so into a who give a shit.

Where has anyone said people like Coulter shouldn't be allowed to speak? They can speak. Their opponents can speak out against them too. If the hosts choose to cancel the even that is their choice. That seems to be the consistent sentiment I see on this site.

They think freedom of speech means freedom from criticism for speech. For all of their professed love of free speech they immediately squeal like a stuck pig as soon as someone criticizes them for it.

I think this is just fine, but with the proviso that Trump should be given TV time to to hold up her bloody modeled head and say to folks everywhere, 'Hint hint!'. I don't believe anybody who intimidates others with their own hatred expressed should be free from having that same hatred directed back at them. Only scum seek to make others miserable even if the other is already scum personified. Filth tends to drag everybody down and those who succumb spread the infection. Hate speech, if it is to be allowed, should never be allowed without reciprocal risks.

I ran a search on your handle plus the word "pastime." I found two cases of you saying that criticizing the POTUS had become a "national pastime." You got virtually no response to either post.

If you're trying to suggest that people around here were saying you had no right to criticize Obama, then you need to link that. It's not an opinion I can ever recall anyone giving on this board.

Now people criticizing your criticism of Obama? Of course that happens all the time. This board is for political discussion and debate. The problem with many conservatives these days is that they don't seem to understand the difference. We don't have to agree with your opinions to tolerate them as free speech. Indeed, the very reason we have protection for speech is because we have an alternative remedy for bad/offensive/stupid speech called counter-speech, which itself is also protected speech.

This is how Roger Waters opened his show in Kansas City, apparently a few snowflakes got upset

Pink Floyd's The Wall is one of my all time favorite albums and you could probably make a bet and win that Roger performed quite a few songs from that album with that big ass sign behind him.

You just can't legislate poor taste unfortunately, but you can debate it all you want. Personally, I think this imagery has too much in common with ISIS, Al Quaeda and Taliban propaganda--too many people have been actually murdered publicly in similar fashion for this to be "art".

Both. Difference being the only defense of Kathy Griffin is coming from ... Kathy Griffin. Ted Nugent says something about shooting Obama, and he gets applause and a guided WH tour.

If it were anyone else, the answer would definitely be 'both'. But the .prez is someone you can't even SAY certain things about, it's surprising that this doesn't blur the line into threat territory. Maybe if it were just a random FB hero doing it the feds would get involved.
Grey area perhaps.

What it has in common with them is the abandonment of all all understanding of hope and faith, a statement of the frustration brought on by the emptiness of spiritual blindness. There is only love.

Too far.
That could easily be considered a threat against the president which is a serious fucking crime.
I dont like the guy at all but wishing his death is not appropriate.
Congratulations. You suffer, you know, because the best in you has not died.

Good timing. Here's a brand new example of "art" that has leftists/feminists in an absolute uproar, the "Pi$sing Pug". Since the girl disrespects (and misrepresents) the message of the bull statue, he figured one bad turn deserves another.

It's working... hypocrisy showing in spades.

Would that be the FREE SPEECH rally? Not an "alt-right" event, but classified as such because the progressives consider anyone not of their ranks to be such?

So.... whose "free speech" wins? The people wanting to have an event, or the ones who want it blocked?

The people wanting to hold the event should be able to exercise their right to free speech. Keep in mind that those who disagree should also be free to peacefully assemble to express that opinion.

Peacefully, sure. Disrupting it so it can't happen, not so much. Physical acts like spitting, egging, glitter-bombing, throwing bottles and rocks, punching, bikelock-whacking, etc... it shouldn't have to be said that it's completely wrong... but it does... because the left is doing all that in spades.

Again no surprise that American leftists embrace the hatred, violence and barbarity of the Muslim extremists in showing a beheaded image of President Trump. I'm sure ISIS can take the image and use it for their own purposes. 3 cheers for Hollywood, the media and the left.

Pictures from a recent photo shoot done by comedian Kathy Griffin show her holding a severed, bloody head that is supposed to be that of Trump.

Curious on thoughts of the good people of AT. Personally, this strikes me as a too far. If this were Obama I'm sure it would be called inappropriate by many.

Pics at link.

Free speech. Trump can lie and say whatever he wants. Griffith can hold whatever bloody head she wants, as long as the bloody head is just a prop.

Get over it Trumpsters, go find a safe zone somewhere if this offends you.
