I oppose to any violence threats toward anyone just because he/she said something that I do not like.
Good. I support this. So in essence I don't support the backlash or faux outrage over what she did.

Because free speech is a thing. Right wingers have been slandering the POTUS for 8 years now all of a sudden it's this big thing.

It's not surprising this is how the right reacts. They're pretty much everything negative said about their "enemies".

I didn't say shot when nugent made threatening remarks towards Obama, or when right wingers made signs calling him a monkey, kenyan, Muslim terrorist, or depicted him decapitated with a sword through his head.

Sad state of affairs here in the USA, and as we begin to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world, I don't see it getting better.

This isn't a right vs left thing. The issue here isn't whether she had a right to do this. She absolutely had the right and she's still a free woman today. Of course the secret service is obligated to look into this. She looked like a pitiful mess yesterday. Why would she want to give right wingers the satisfaction of seeing her like that? They had a field day with it and it extends the story for another day or two. I don't see what she got out of it.

It's fine to be outraged by it but the death threats are not fine. Doing what she did does have a tendency to bring the loons out. Reason #101 not to do what she did.

You already stated what she got out of it.

I certainly hope liberals don't keep their free speech under wraps because of right wingers death threats and faux outrage.

The same logic apply's to Trump's hate speech rhetoric.

OMG, the Dems are outraged? Whatever for?

Round and round.

If nothing else they've found a limit to their criticism of Trump. There for awhile I was wondering if there were any limits

It's all in context of how Republicans are seen as racists, so I don't see a problem here.

Of course he doesn't need to go. It's HBO and it's Bill Mayer, he's not exactly known for being pc and all that. Anyone pretending to be offended is just looking for something to be angry about

I agree. No surprise that Black Lives Matter is on that list

^ LOL! In other words, liberals can be racist assholes all they want, say horrible things exposing how they *really* see black people (Maher's go-to in context of absolutely NOTHING being talked about is telling) and...

Just blame a Republican! *dust hands*.

Kind of like the agent troll's racist behavior on these forums and the blatant approval of it given here.

Quick roll 1-6 on a 6 sided die to see if a conservative here plays the victim card. You know there is a way to talk about the moderation here right? They have a special forum for it. But nope you just do some passive aggressive whining.

Nope, not in others words this at all.

If you guys can't see what he was getting at, then that sucks for you. He doesn't go around using the word regularly for no reason. I doubt you watch his show, his statements are often sarcasm smothered in irony, which is lost on Cons.

He's not actually a racist, but if he shows up in support of a monument dedicated to racists, and fighting from it being removed, then I guess you will have made a point.

I think this one's too far, it's on the level of Trump inciting violence in his rallies against protester and reporters, maybe not that far, but still alluding to violence.

We don't have to like Trump's politics but inciting violence toward someone because you don't like them is too far.

whining and playing the victim card while claiming someone else is.
Did you clean off your monitor after all that spit?

usual bullshit...
ln other words, "blame someone else for what he said."

His go to was to equate someone joking about him 'working the fields' with him being black and a house ....

It says way more about what he thinks of black people- to go there from something that had nothing to do with race, than it does for you trying to pin it on anyone else. Just own up. A lot of you liberals suffer from the bigotry of low expectations. Black people are perpetual victims, slaves and a helpless underclass, and will remain so for all eternity. It'll of course always be 'someone else's fault' but the condescending, never-changing liberal viewpoint isn't.

Usual bs from you there eh?

It's ok, if you can't connect the dots in the article just say so.

Maher is being held responsible for what he said. He said, owned it.

I doubt he'll say it again. Maybe he can ask the next Con he talks to how to be subtle about it, they've had 150 years of practice.

Do you actually understand the (poor taste) joke he made?

A sitting senator (man of power) offers to have him "work the fields" in Nebraska, playing off the old Real America/only rural folks work hard trope as a put down & power play to California-liberal Maher.

Maher response was self-deprecating in acknowledgement of his lower status and power, but also his defiance and free will to at least choose his best option meanwhile playing his familiar I'm a lazy pot smoking liberal deflection.

It was still offensive and shocking, and ultimately a failed joke as it didn't have the intended effect.

In the end,
1. He would have been smarter to acknowledge his mistake then, he knew right away he fucked it up
2. It was a self directed insult, not malicious towards anyone else
3. It's live TV, not a planned out bit like Griffin's.
4. Didn't conservatives campaign on everyone being too PC? Here you go.
5. Only the ultra-PC leftists have ground to get pissy about it. At least they are consistent. I

Griffin went too far, that's obvious. Was it free speech? Yes, and I still support her right to do this. Even thought I strongly disagree with what she did, its still her right. But actions have consequences, and her acting like a victim of a ruined career is laughable. She did it to herself. I do not support the alleged threats to her over what she did, there is no place for that. Sadly, this happens a lot on the internet, when someone says/does something that someone else doesn't like. Griffin crying and blaming Trump for ruining her career, being an evil old white man is just pathetic. Her first apology was a good one, after that she went off the deep end. She brought this on herself, I can forgive and forget, she just needs to stop trying to be the victim in this.

Maher is a comedian, and comedians often times say offensive things. I still do not like that he used that word, I don't like when anyone does it. Even in the context it was used, when he was diggin on himself. This whole, "I can say it but you cant" shit needs to stop. It is a reprehensible word that should be stricken from our daily lives, but that will never happen. I can forgive and forget that he said it, mistakes happen.

Yup, but not surprising. The store owner may want to be careful, if something happens to her now he could be under investigation for conspiracy.
