so when you stack teh scale up, the max durability will increase as well? like stacking 2 1-pound scales will create a 2-pound scale?

I think the idea is that you can weigh (actually, find a weight range) anything between 1 and 6 pounds.

2+3 = 5 lbs

2+3+1 = 6 lbs, etc.

If you could get your hands on more, they might work to tell larger ranges, but I think the accuracy would go down a bit. Also, it might be the perspective, but these look like they might be incrementally larger (height, width), which would possibly only allow you to stack a 1, 2, and 3... no doubling-up.

Ordered mine on Friday when the email came.

Nota Bene!
. And, BTW, if any of you do a lot of USPS shipping, you should be using their free Shipping Assistant software. Just go to http://www.USPS.com, search for Shipping Assistant, register and download. Prints labels for all types of mail (on plain paper or peelNstick labels) - on Priority Mail you get FREE Delivery Confirmation (saves 55 cents) - on 1st class at least 3/4" thick DC is only 13c (saves 42 cents), also 13 cents on Parcel Post. Those have been the only three classes I've used it on. It's not for flat mail. You can also sign up for an online postage account and the Shipping Assistant will be able to print the postage right on the label as well... Go for it!
. They suggest that you use a laser printer for the labels, but I've been using my Canon ink jets to print them and have had no problems except one lost package - which I think was in too small a box and it probably fell into a sorting machine somewhere and was gone forever...

They are now offering free next day package pickup, so you don't have to drive to the PO to drop off your package (if you can wait an extra day). These 'scales' are part of the program. From the looks of it, they are folded pieces of plastic. You put your package on one, and if it bends beyond a certain point, then your package is over the limit (1, 2, or 3 lbs.) See Link Not a scale you'ld use for scientific work, but good enough for the USPS.

This link makes me sorry I signed up for this

I got mine a while ago. They are ISO certified to something like 10,000 uses each. This pretty much guarantees that they are solid. They are part plastic, part metal so it isn't as cheap as most people probably think they are.
