starbucks espresso (lattes, mochas, and blended drinks) is mediocre at best. its a wonder how they get any flavor at all pulling an espresso shot in 15 seconds (or less depending on what location and what equipment they use), but go figure when they have that many orders per hour. If you want flavorful espresso, go to a local coffee shop that doesn't use a super-auto machine, that actually times the shot for 23-25 seconds.

but, i like starbucks' french pressed coffee.

nonetheless, this is a hot deal, especially if you live in new york city; there's a starbucks every other block, you could walk all day and see how many cups you could get for free (and pee).

coffee of the day is less than $2 for a tall at most any coffee shop or cafe. Usually right around $1.25.

Here's a little known fact about Starbucks:
They have a cappuccino drink known as the "Short" that isn't advertised. It's essentially the same shot of espresso they put in the larger drinks without the gallons of milk. Just the right amount of froth, IMO. It's also cheaper. You must ask for it though, bringing humiliation and shame upon yourself.

They have the "Short" size for all their drinks. My wife gets that size since that's all the coffee she likes to drink at any one time. It's cheaper in all cases. The only issue is that it seems to only be available at the regular Starbucks locations (not airport ones).
