Man you don't know how right you are... There's a starbucks in the mall over here in Cerritos and just a few blocks down across the street , literally, a NEW starbucks... Reminds me of that one Simpsons episode where bart gets an ear pierced in the mall somewhere and right when he walks out the door, the whole mall is filled with starbucks

I've been there! it's crazy. I went to the smaller one... I dont like coffee and they had limited choices (juice was all gone) so I ended up getting hot chocolate
they were definately different stores. I saw someone ask for an application, and the employee said they were out of them, and that the other store should have some...then he checked with his boss if the other store's applications were good for this store

walked down the street and saw a street performer making balloons... went to the virgin records around there.. and I still have some bath bombs from the lush's store

I don't see why everyone at Anandtech always complains about every single popular Chain. What store/chain do you guys like? From the readings, none. Always someone trying to whine about a deal.

Just let this man post his deal, don't like it, then go the away, is it really necessary to talk about how bad you think the coffee is or something?

I personally think its a great deal that I'll get into.

It's called snob value, as in "Oh I like Starbucks". If you study marketing you will see that the moment you add a 'premium' value to a product it sells. Look at the auto industry for example - which are their most profitable items? Not their best sellers - its the premium cars and bigger SUV's. Ford makes nearly 10,000 on each expedition! So change the taste of coffee a bit (slightly burn the beans), give it exotic names, put up a fancy looking shop and viola you have a successful product. "Never mind the product look at the marketing!"

Personally I don't mind starbucks but purely on taste & flavor I prefer Dunkin Donuts (having one near my office might have something to do with it too ).

If the gift card is in all their 2001 annual reports, just request one from them - most companies will send you an annual report if you ask.

You pay twice as much for coffee at Starbucks, for (in my opinion) coffee that tastes like crap. - however, for free it is good
You can go to Dunkin' Donuts or 7-11 and get coffee for half (or even a third) the price, and (to me) it tastes better.

Buy your own espresso machine and learn to make them yourself. Tastes better than coffee house chains, IMHO

If you drink as much coffee as I do, it'll pay for itself in a matter of time

silly people, you don't pay twice as much for starbucks. a normal grande coffee costs 1.55 there. an equiv at 7/11 probably costs 1.20+ and tastes like ass in comparison, and 7/11 gives you lousy powdered creamer or those damn packets instead of fresh milk/cream, no honey etc. if you must have your capuccino and pay out your ass for a little steamed milk at starbucks, its your own ignorance that is at fault

when you pay 5 bucks for coffee, your not paying 5 bucks for coffee, your paying 5 bucks to have coffee in a cozy living room enviornment, thats why they are making all that $$$$$$$$. when your in a city all day, many will pay an insane price for coffee to get out of the hectic scene. btw, their frap's rock!
