Free steam games for nVidia owners

i can't get past level 1 in lost coast =\ where u get lowered from the outdoor elevator back to the man from the beginning. seems like i keep fainting... =

turns out "lost coast" was just one level?? lol

So, could you throw in an old 6200, get the games, and then throw an ATI card back in, or does it check for nVidia on every run?

I'd imagine you could do exactly that. Only one way to find out though

But yeah, Steam has no way of telling you apart from someone who actually bought a 6200, found the offer, then promptly had the card die on you and you had to revert to using an ATI backup. It seems to check your PC when you apply for the offer, then after you accept it gets tied to that particular steam account. I could be wrong though, but there should be no harm in trying.

Wants something that requires DX10. I wasn't thinking real hard about it and gave it a try since I have an Nvidia motherboard chipset.

LC is actually just a tech demo that valve released in order to show the new half-life features and graphical improvements.

The only DX10 I have is an ATI, the only NVIDIA I have is a DX9

ATI originally released had a deal where every owner of an ATI card gets:
HL2 deathmatch and HL2 Lost Coast for free.
nVidia countered by getting those games, and including a DEMO to Peggle Extreme, and extended Portal demo...

Since demos are pretty much worthless, What BOTH companies give you is free HL2 deathmatch and HL2 lost coast (which is a 30 minute microlevel of HL2)...

Note, you don't have to create a new account, you can associate those games with your existing account... and this "limited time offer" has been going on for more then a year now.

Anyways, it is free steam games for ATI and nVidia owners, so everyone but intel IGP owners are in...

Also, once you get it is it is associated with your account... back in the day i used old AGP AMD 9800Pro to associate the games, and then played them on my newer nvidia 7900GS

Many steam games are OpenGL and those games are easily ported to any system. However, I believe these specific games are windows only so it seems that boot camp or VMware are your best options.

Boot camp allows you to dual boot Mac OS and Windows. You will need to obtain a copy of MS Windows Vista ($89) to use VMware (recommended) or Boot Camp.

Gotta love the free stuff. Hopefully if I ever have to do another re-install, these games will be included in the "my games" list to automatically re-install without my having to search for this link again.
