Still only the confirmation email that order has been placed. No email yet stating refusal.
I'll try not to hold my breath too long....

Yea, same here, no e-mail for cancellation, I did over night shipping, hope it comes. One guy can ruin it for the rest of us. One dumb guy to call the CSR or order 1000 and it's over.

Yup, I got the same email saying that the order is still pending but they are out of stock. I only ordered one.

All the dumb@asses who ordered too many and called CSRs should have their access to this forum revoked! Thanks for ruining the deal for everyone...

I placed an order for one last night. Even received the confirmation email saying it was on it's way. This morning, my checking account is 200 bucks short. They must have caught their error and are now charging me the full price. Rest assured, as soon as 9 o clock hits this morning, I'll be on the phone with Outpost. Their little disclaimer says that they're not responsible for misinformation, but that still does not give them the right to charge me an amount I didn't authorize. I have not received a cancellation email either. So just a warning to other members who ordered this, watch out! I'll post again once I get some sort of result.

Of course they're out of stock! You really think they keep a few thousand on hand for people to order 10,000 of them? That first guy probably bought them all! :| And I needed a zip drive too. [ <-- Note that "a" for me means "one" as I don't have one.]

You're an idiot if... a) You think this would ever go through once it's been posted to one forum b) You think begging people to just order one will ever work c) You think that maybe one day there won't be a handful of idiots that will call a CSR to check and see if a deal like this is legit d)You think you'll get a free USB zip drive and just pay shipping e) You make a list like this of dumb assumptions made by users with 'hot steal' fever.

Morale of the story: Deals or 'steals' like this aren't a very smart thing to post. It's like throwing a crate full of rice in some third-world, famine ridden, country and asking everyone just to take one grain. Just order yours and then wait until it ships before spilling the beans. It's great that people want to share, and if this and every other forum was an utopia, we would all secretely order one and they would never even be the wiser that their whole stock of USB iomega drives were going out the door for free. Yeah right.

I would just like to say it takes a real genius to call CS and tip them off to the deal, ruining for not only themselves, but for everyone else interested. So even if you don't care about ruining a deal for other people, you're shooting yourself in the foot too cuz if you tell CS about the error, you're not going to get your order sent through either.

Just got off the phone with Outpost CSR. The order was automatically cancelled. The authorization request for 207 dollars is still out there but will disappear in a couple days. So no free zip drive
But at least I didn't get screwed in the process.

This is a great example of why you should always use a Credit Card for online purchases. Better yet use a card number generated just for the purchase that they can only charge the amount of the sale to. I have an MBNA mastercard which offers the ShopSafe program. You just download this little program that you log into, then you tell them how long you want the account active (Expiration date) and how much you want the limit to be. In this case I used a one month exp with a 20 dollar limit. So even if they wanted to charge me the whole 207 bucks they couldn't. It is Illegal for any company to charge you anything but what has been agreed upon the receipt. If you use your Check card or Debit card, they can charge as much as they want, up to the amount in your account. Also it is harder to get the funds back than if you used a Credit Card. CC's offer a buyer insurance that they will not be liable for charges not made by them up to 50 dollars. Hope this is a good lesson to folks.

Thanks TigerFan. I also have an MBNA card that I should've used. But just wasn't thinking. Guess I got too excited about it and didn't think. I will definitely watch my @ss closer in the future.

I did not get a kill letter yet, just an out of stock notice.

The shipping charge has been removed, but isn't this due to the fact that they can't charge you until they send it from their warehouse?

Has anyone gotten anything else? Maybe mine went through?!

To get the MBNA ShopSafe program you have to register with MBNA net access here Once you register and login, there is an icon on the account details page where you can download the software.

Well first of all Triggerhappy is an idiot just for posting it here. This originated in fatwallet forums and the guy who posted it CLEARLY SAID not to post it here. He knew what was gonna happen. Some morons ordered 1000's of the drives and|or called sales reps asking about it. Now everyone's f*cked cuz the'll be losing lotsa money if they honored the orders. ($100x1000=100,000 loss).

Why is he an idiot to post a hot deal here? He shouldn't be helping his fellow anandtecher? Put you anti-flamming suit on quick, I am afraid you might need it.
