The shipping of priority mail supplies to your home has always been free. You can go to the Click-n-Ship website and order all kinds of supplies, shipped for free to your home.

You still gotta pay for the item to be delivered to the desired location...So, technically, shipping isn't free, the boxes are. Everyone knows that, they've been airing commercials for more than about 8 months.

First of all I don't have TV it is a waste of money!

Secondly it only says a kit not shipping, make sure you read the OP. They will however ship it to you for free. So I guess the shipping is free!

Anyway I just need a box!

You can get these for free at the post office you know?

assuming that you are right.

You have to pay for gas to get there, not to mention the depreciation on your car. They will ship the kit to you for free so you are saving money and time! Because time is money also.

1/10th of a gallon and maybe 4 miles max driving is going to depreciate a car and make you go broke?

I can walk out my door and walk for 5 minutes to grab a box at my nearest USPS office.

I've been getting free packing supplies from USPS for years (they don't charge to send supplies to you). They did get smarter and printed USPS/Priority all over the previously blank insides.
Use to be able to turn them inside out and use them as regular shipping boxes...

Eh....no.

We were talking about the shipping of the supplies to your home being free.

No one would actually ever think that the Priority Mail shipping costs would be free.

I still have about 40 USPS Priority mail boxes from the last free shipment they sent me. They come in handy for packing XMas gifts!

Umm, from the way the thread is setup, that is exactly what seems to be implied.

Not implied anywhere for free postage.

If you think that, then you are one of maybe one of a couple that would think you also get free shipping with your boxes.

The thread says "Free USPS flat rate shipping kit." Nowhere did the OP imply that you get free postage with it.

Click on the link:

"Simply complete this form to get a free kit, including all four Flat Rate Boxes, the Flat Rate Gift Card Envelope, and a helpful tip sheet."

Again nowhere does it imply free postage.

edit:
On the left side of the link

Step 1: Get Free Supplies

Step 2: Pay & print postage online

Step 3 : Request Free package Pickup

Now if that's not clear enough.................................

I agree. I was surprised that the USPS was giving people "trial postage" or something similar until I read the thread.
Boxes have always been free, so there's no "deal" there, it's just a bundle of different box sizes. They give you the boxes hoping you will use them by paying postage. I guess they charge themselves to deliver them.
It remeinded me of when UPS basically gave away a free small box with paid postage trying to get people to switch from FedEx or something, that was back around 2000 or so.

Exactly. No need for further explanation. The end.

Folks, I believe this point has been sufficiently crafted . . . forged in white-hot stupidity, tempered in tedious yet pointless debate, and then beaten by a seemingly endless series of volunteer ATFreeStuff smithies into a rapier sharp weapon of redundancy so awesome that no sane person continues to care about it at all.

A grateful forum thanks the participants, and collectively wishes that each of you obtain a life.
