Just remember, if your box says "priority mail" on it anywhere (even if you use the tape to seal a brown box), it HAS to go out priority mail. I imagine it's the same with the express mail stuff.

I send some stuff with these boxes flipped inside out to save a little on shipping costs (some can be flipped, others cant). Most post offices took them, but I did get told once that I couldn't do that... So YMMV, and it is technically an abuse of the system....

Handy if you sell A LOT over Ebay... Otherwise, I found that I had too much stuff in storage so I returned about 30 boxes to the local post office.

Free boxes are a great way to get me to use the Postal Service. I mail almost everything USPS Priority because it's much cheaper than UPS and gets there much faster. The fact that I don't have to pay for my boxes is also a plus. I've been waiting for this "sale" to come up again. I've been out of boxes for way too long.

Too bad they don't offer the "odd sized" boxes that you sometimes find at a few post offices. 0x4 boxes are too small for me while 0x7 ones are usually way too big (since I'd have to fill 90% or more of the box with stuffing = more $$ on shipping costs)

These boxes are always free, but it's nice to have a stockpile if you ship often. This way, you can get your package ready BEFORE you get to the Post Office

It's also nice since our local Post Office never has the media-sized boxes out in the lobby.

Good thread to remind those who didn't know about this

I wish they would send regular brown boxes. Priority can get expensive for heavier items but I usually prefer USPS because an office is just about located everywhere! Otherwise, I'd probably go with UPS or Fedex if they were closer.

The point is that they give you a box in hopes that you use their service. It sure works for me, since I'm lazy and I can print labels online and bypass that whole line at the PO.

They started stamping the inside of the box so you can't do that anymore.
