Where can I get big boxes for free? Moving sized boxes. I'm going to need to send a lot of stuff by UPS or FedEx ground in June. If I just go to Kinko's or the UPS Store won't I have to pay for the boxes?

FREE NON-BRANDED PRIORITY MAIL BOXES

From USPS's website

These have always been free. The only downside is it requires you to ship via USPS Priority Mail, these cannot be used for Parcel Mail

I flip the boxes inside out when not using Priority

For people like you, USPS prints Priority Mail in black letters on the inside these days.
Good for them.
 for cheaters

Now they won't ever ship me any more priority boxes..... well unless I go through eBay - but I just want the regular ones dammit.

Then get off your ass and go to the post office asking nicely.

Stealing isn't so great in the long term, eh?

P.S. I've used thousands of these boxes for legit mailing, as well as DHL w/ DHL, FedEx w/ FedEx, etc. Play by the rules, and you get nice free boxes.

Can you get free UPS boxes? =D

Yes you can, and if you use them for anything but UPS you're an asshole. As much as UPS sucks, stealing is stealing.

Might want to try the local retail stores. That is where I procured a bunch when I moved. They were happy to give them to me.

Except, Media Mail you need to get a package or padded envelope and Priority Mail includes Free delivery confirmation, plus is coast to coast in 3 business days and has a tracking number

Nevermind, don't do that, I got a letter today (oddly enough) and they don't like it lol

Not my fault entirely, a worker at a shipping place suggested I do it. Not kidding!

Post a scan of the letter!

I just want free UPS boxes to ship with.

=)

Saw on the site if you sign up for an account you get them...might have to do that, credit card on file just for free boxes seems odd, but meh..

If you're shipping short distances, this is just fine. If you're shipping from California to Maine, Priority Mail will be there in 3 days. Media Mail might take 2 weeks.

umm...you just turn the boxes inside out..duh
I like to take advantage of them because they lose about 1 in every 3 things I ship, or my text books come in SHREDS.. So much hassle in insurance, I get their free boxes now and ship them ups! lol

So...you admit you're a thief.

Nice to see such a wonderful level of honesty. I'm sure it's about your only good quality.

1. The free boxes that you can get from UPS/Fedex/DHL are only for air services. You can't get free boxes for ground shipping. UPS does sell boxes, but prices are a little high once you pay shipping. You can do better.

2. Priority Mail boxes are free at all post offices, but they may not have all the sizes. They also sell "ReadyPost" boxes for Parcel Post or Media Mail, but they are overpriced. If you buy a ReadyPost box and use it for Priority Mail... duh.

I believe this may also be a violation of federal law.

This is what you get when you go to get some of the boxes at the postal service's website:

"I understand that Express Mail, Priority Mail, Global Express Guaranteed, Global Express Mail and Global Priority Mail packaging is the property of the United States Postal Service and is provided solely for sending Express Mail, Priority Mail, Global Express Guaranteed, Global Express Mail and Global Priority Mail. Misuse may be a violation of federal law."

The Postal Service is not quite just another shipping company - they've got the protection of the US Government.
D`cks like you sap away at their supplies, and are probably a part of the reason for rate increases.

If you want free boxes, and you want to turn them inside out anyway, go to a local retailer. They get merchandise in boxes of all sizes, and shouldn't mind letting you take some of their empty boxes. My best source was the Walmart I once worked at. But then, I worked nightshift - pickings are best around 4-5am. All different sizes of boxes, and if you're lucky, you could snag some double-corrugated ones.
