To all the haters, the reason they give the boxes away is so you will buy the upgraded service not because they are in the free box business.

Hey Rifleman007, I'm pretty sure that is NOT how the USPS intended their boxes to be used BUT I think it is genius and hilarious!
BTW the free shoe box size is perfect for holding 24 DVDs or a bunch of video tapes... I cut off the wide side so the titles show, they are perfect for putting out old tapes and DVDs at the fleamarket

To all the smart peeps....you can still use the boxes and NOT ship them priority...you just cut one side of the box and flip it around and now you have a plain box. Of course you need to re-tape the one side you cut. But now you can ship it parcel, 1st Class, whatever.....just a helpful tip.

They realized that people were doing that, and started printing "Priority Mail" on the inside.
Unless your post office is really clueless, it won't work.

BTW, it's also a federal crime.

These have always been free. The only downside is it requires you to ship via USPS Priority Mail, these cannot be used for Parcel Mail

they use to have the priority tape for free too. I dont see it now. :-(
