In the wild, most prey animals are dead before being eaten. Most often from a broken neck (ever watch an animal do that twisting-shake maneuver?)
If I'm gonna' be eaten I'd rather be dead first. If I've gotta' die... I'd much prefer it to be quick and painless like a shot to the head.
For those who tried not eating meat and not felt any different, it's because you're still eating all the other crap that's force-fed to us. The french fries, candy bars, processed-everything... Try and find things without chemicals... good luck. Eggs have as much negative by-products as meat, and dairy as well.
I am not a total veggie, I just really limit the amount of meat, eggs, and dairy I take in, because while it tases good- it's NOT good for the body.
Dairy - the "calcium" everyone is trying to get is being cancelled out by the milk protein. You don't get calcium from milk (unless you drink over a gallon a day). Veggie alternative? Green-leaves and almonds have more calcium than you'll ever get from milk.
Meat/eggs - people will scream "protein" until blue in the face. Veggie alternative? Beans. Any kind. That simple. You also don't get the negative side-effect of cholesterol, which is ONLY FOUND IN ANIMAL PRODUCTS. Amazing, eh? If you have a heart/blood problem, the first thing the doctor does is limit your meat intake, and eliminate pork entirely. What does that say?
One final though about "the four food groups" we all grew up with. Ever wonder who made up these groups? Scientists? Not really... notice on the bottom or back of the "food groups" poster where it says "provided by..." You'll either find meat industry, or more likely, dairy industry there. Hmmmmm......
It seems to be that the stuff that's the WORST for our bodies tastes the best. I can already see the responses of people saying they eat 20oz steaks with fried eggs on top every night because it tastes GOOD! I have no denial it does.... just don't expect me to cry when you're dead at 45 from a heart attack, or you're just plain old obese.
Yes, we can really can live on veggies and grains alone... my wife is really starting to cook some fantastic recipes! Mmmmm.... she makes this creamy sauce (with no dairy) that goes great on linguini.... (mouth watering!)
I'd like to see how long someone could live on meat alone.
(Remember folks, I occasionally have a chicken sandwich, so don't give me the gung-ho flames. I'm just more educated in this area than most, and I try to live healthy wherever possible. I just need to get exercising more...)
A person who eats meat and gets regular GOOD exercise (not a flight of stairs every day) is probably in better health than a vegetarian couch potato.
