Anyhow, it told me mine shipped as soon as I watched the 3rd video. Very fast processing. But of course, I'm at a few weeks and waiting.

Good luck to all!

I got my CDs and MSDN DVD in couple of weeks after registration. Best thing is, I never watched a single webcast. I would just click on the link (but due to some problem in Firefox and WMP integration, it never played) and keep that window open. It's fun.

Anyways, thought of sharing this with you guys.

Now I wonder... Can I install this on multiple machines, or does it require validation each time?

My friend who did the videos a day after I did, got his VS 2005 package yesterday. I still haven't gotten mine which is surprising and disappointing. He's not even a programmer. Hopefully I'll get mine in the mail this week.

Got mine today, 1.5 months after registering. So don't give up.

Also looks like the offer is still on if anyone is contemplating.

Steal his, tell him he can take your set if it shows up.

Still haven't gotten mine, either.

Ok, I finally got mine today in the mail. It takes about 6-8 weeks just like they say on the page.

Disk 1 in my set is bad, I have to call MS to get a replacement...or just wait until next year for the new one

No books required. Go to the msdn visual studio site and you can get a free c# book in pdf format. Also they have a slew of videos that walk you through getting started in C#, VB and SQL Server express editions. But the best treat of all is the free VS Web developer. I've been going through the videos. Integrates with either the C#/VB and the SQL Server simply and easily. For C# just dowload the free book and some of the other free books/articles at MSDN. The C# specification book, both the earlier one and the upgraded C# 2.0 books as the newer stuff such as generics is covered in the 2.0 document while the fundamentals in the earlier one. You probably could get by without buying a single book!

Mine arrived this week. I really have to give MS the thumbs up on this promotion. I'm fast becoming a fan of the free (express/standard) tools.

I finally got around to watching my 3rd webcast last week. So far no confirmation on qualifying for the Dev. Pack. Did others receive a notification after viewing the 3rd webcast? I sent a note to the cust. service address about it.

First, you don't actually have to watch them. As soon as you click on one of the webcasts and then log in, it registers that you've watched it.

Second, once you've "watched" 3 or more, it tells you right on the page with all the webcasts whether your gift has shipped or not. It takes 6-8 weeks for it to arrive.

The only thing scarier than the astromical prices charged for microsoft products is when they give something away...I just don't trust it...

Is this actually a NFR (Not For Resale) version? I've gotten Microsoft Windows XP w/ SP2 and Office 2003 Pro from Microsoft for doing online training before. They said it was NFR versions, but when I received the software it was the full retail version without NFR stickers. I heard the NFR actually has NFR on the cd's.

ahah, i signed up for it and started watching. These webcasts are like an hour long each. My CS227 (C++) knowledge is so different from this jsp/asp.net crap.

I found it. The shipment notification is on the page you get to from the "My events" link in the nav panel on the top left of the pages.

All media is silkscreened "Not for Resale" or "Not for Retail or OEM Distribution".
