One of the choices were water smells like "rotten eggs". Who has that? Never even heard (or smelled) of it.

I've smelled it myself in some places. Anyways, I think it means that there's a high sulfur content in the water.

Received mine today!
3ppm in hardness
No nitrates or nitrites
No free chlorine, low chlorine
PH 6.5

However, I hate the taste of water in my area. WTF? I don't think you can do much better than that.

The 3ppm of sediments enough to make the water taste bad?

Unfortunately, the taste can be caused by other inorganic/organic substances. For example, I moved into a new apt (first tennants) awhile back. Water tasted horrible......got a test kit, water tested great. After talking with the water company, I was told this is normal for new buldings. The pipes will eventually develop a "coat" (feels a little slimey) that will help prevent the pipes from making the water taste nasty. Of course, as another example, I was in Yosemite recently and the water tasted like crap, but maybe the Uranium in the water could have had something to do with it.. (not really, water was very hard).

The rotten egg smell is probably sulfer like tk149 said.

I have smelled it in well water big time!! Try taking a shower with it sometime! Nasty:frown:

rotten-egg smell = hydrogen sulfide dissolved in the water.
