Got my Vista as well today; don't know what to do with it since it won't run games as well as XP for quite some time. Albeit, I never did have much problem in that regard with XP when it first came out.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm in suburban Chicago.

I wonder if the retail version uses the same installer that clobbers everything in the bootblock?
If so, I hope you backed up your GRUB settings (or whatever boot selelctor you used).

I got my Vista package today, yea! Unfortunately the disc is mangled and wont install, boo. Does anyone know what recourse I have to get another install disc?

Mangled as in what, bent? Post a pic.
You can e-mail them and I am sure they will work something out.

THe disc had a bunch of adhesive on it that I finally got removed tonight. Still having an install problem, the dreaded 0x80070241 error code that seems to be quite prevalent during installation. Still can't figure out how to fix it. Oh well you get what you payed for I guess....

Try some Goo Gone and/or alcohol and just make sure you got all the adhesive off.. Even the slightest amount could cause some issues.

Use the Goo Gone first, then follow up with the alcohol.
