Damn, I read three pages of posts trying to figure out if this was for real, before I noticed it's from two months ago. Some of you guys really got a sweet deal.

Got Both the Vista Business DVD (no glue) and a folder with the Office 2007 key and download location in it today. Now to wait and see if all the problems get ironed out and all the drivers show up before I install. Thank you AnandTech Hot Deals and M$.

Oh yeah, I'm in Lansing MI.

Order here,
it's said to be 'free' beyond a shipping/handling fee (9.95 AFAIK)
for the 64bit media; you'll need your current product key to order.

Does ordering the x64 bit version somehow "disable" my 32-bit copy? And will this offer always be available (even after activating the 32-bit version)? I ask because x64 is too slow currently so I would want to install the 32-bit version but in the future I would want to install the x64 version...

The key for the 32 bit and 64 bit editions is apparently the same. Some users were installing the 64 bit version and using there 32 bit key to activate with it. The only catch is that you need to aquire the 64 bit media.

The license terms of the MSLT say that you can only use one version at a time
(32 or 64), but there's no reason that you can't switch between whichever version
suits your needs at any given time. The same product key is used for both
versions as far as I've heard, so having activated the 32 does not prevent you
from switching to 64 any time later on, and having activated 64 doesn't prevent you
from going back to 32 any time you may need to do so.

They say that the offer to order the "free" 64 bit media may be a limited time offer,
though, so it may be best to order your 64 bit install disc soon even if you don't plan
to use it for a while. When they were offering the "free" 64 bit upgrades to XP32
I figured they'd never stop that offer, but they did so after a while, so I think maybe
it's best to get it now while you can just in case.

Anyway there's no harm in having / trying it, you'll always be free to use either one
you want.

When I go to the above link and enter my code, it offers me the Home Basic version...does anyone else see this?

No, yesterday I ordered and this was my confirmation information on the product selected after I selected:
a) "64 BIT DVD" *not* "VISTA ON CD-ROM MEDIA"
b) Entered my product key for Vista Business.

Product Quantity Price (USD) Total
Windows Vista Business 64-bit DVD
Part # 66J-01802
1 $9.95 $9.95

Maybe the site has a glitch or else maybe you selected one of the wrong options (order on CD media??)..
Or perhaps it uses Cookies and you may not have Cookies enabled for that site?

IDK.. try again.

Can someone upload a copy of the 64-bit media perhaps? I don't think it's illegal to do that considering I do have a legal license to use it with.

I'm not sure what the "MD5s for reference" means? Do we need to download those files as well or ???? Thanks, I've just never run across that term before.

MD5's are kind of like the "signature" to a file. This basically just proves what you downloaded is matching to the correct file.

Anybody in FL - did you receive yours? I still haven't received anything yet. This saddens me.

I'm so glad I saw this post up top today. I saw the one about the free Office 2007 and Goove 2007. But I already signed up for that through my company, saw this post and realized I had 2 days to turn in the W9 info to get Vista and Office..... its what happens when I never check my hotmail account

OK, so I trashed Vista bigtime a few posts ago. Now I'm beginning to like it. But I highly recommend you don't choose to install as an "upgrade" over your current XP install. For one the install takes like three or four times longer. Second, it is kind of buggy. I didn't like it until I did a clean install, choosing to dual boot with my old XP version (which I restored from a Ghost image after the buggy Vista upgrade.) What I found is that there are ways to get programs running that supposedly won't work with Vista. The whole Aero interface is really growing on me. XP feels like a Model-T compared to Vista. It also seems pretty responsive, but then again my computer is fairly powerful, with 3GB of memory for one thing.

Yea, Clean installs are the way to go, I too did an upgrade, had issues and did a clean install.
I too didn't care for Vista, but now that I've installed it and am running it, it seems rather nice. UAC is annoying as hell, but tolerable. And while I don't have any faults with it, I do have to say if you have XP and it does everything you want it to, don't worry about upgrading for the near future. To me it's more of a user friendly version of Windows.

You can turn off UAC. I did it and it made life much simpler. If you have multiple users at your household, you can leave UAC on for their accounts. I'm the only one using my current XP computer, which I've been able to keep fairly clean of spyware and viruses, so I don't think I personally need the annoying UAC.
