Consensus is that the best word processor ever made is WordPerfect and version 11 has just been released.
What can you do with monopoly power?
- Convince the majority to abandon a superior product like WordPerfect and switch to inferior one like MS Word and have them pay several times more for it. That's what.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have only kown a few WP users my entire computing life and they also remind me of MACheads. No offense, but consensus of who? You and your buddies? Wordperfect people are just like Mac people (IMO), there aren't a lot of them left and the ones that are left, are jaded.

Yes it is. IIRC Sun is now selling it. It used to be free. OpenOffice is a spinn-off of StartOffice. I could be wrong.
I think Sun StarOffice is the Pay_for_spinoff of Open Office. I could also be wrong.

How long has your computing life been? I'm 29 and I can definitely remember when WordPerfect was the dominant product...
Anyhow, I still use WordPerfect for its ability to reveal codes. Except for a text processing language like TeX, it's hard to get a finer level of control over your document than you can get with the reveal codes feature. I still get pissed off by Word's attempts to create "styles" on the fly and apply them where I don't want them (yes, I know I can turn that off, but I collaborate on documents with other people who don't know how and somehow manage to screw up the styles again).
