Free is good.
Consensus is that the best word processor ever made is WordPerfect and version 11 has just been released.
What can you do with monopoly power?
- Convince the majority to abandon a superior product like WordPerfect and switch to inferior one like MS Word and have them pay several times more for it. That's what.
No offense, but consensus of who? You and your buddies? Wordperfect people are just like Mac people (IMO), there aren't a lot of them left and the ones that are left, are jaded.

Screw Word and WP. Go unix VI
Exactly my sentiments. Word Shmurd !!!. Openoffice does more than a good job for my normal word processing requirements. Better still use Latex. (ok thats into the realms of geekdom) . Dont remember when i last rebooted into Windoze. While we are on the anti MS stuff lemme also do a pitch for Phoenix and Mozilla.

And AbiWord works enough like Word that anyone can easily get used to it.
