I dont think non-cash compensation is taxable under the church guise. But as I stated also above, I honestly dont know for sure, and I honestly dont care. I dont have a problem with a pastor making a million or a billion. As a Christian myself, as long as he isnt abusing his position, I couldnt care less. One of my favorite "preachers" is Billy Graham. Now THERE is a guy who was worth millions.

The idea behind allowing the pastors to house to be owned by the church and not pay tax is that the pastor would be living a life of charity. The pastor in question clearly is not so either he is breaking the rules or the rules need to be updated.

*shrug* We all have opinions I guess. I disagree with your statement on biblical reasons, not emotional ones.

How about basing your opinion on reality. When the exceptions where created there where no mega churches or millionaire pastors.

And the reality is, the majority of "believers" who live middle or low income faaaar exceeds thos who are destitute or wealthy. Whats your point again?
What the hell are you even talking about.

I guess you got lost. Let me bring you up to speed:

Pastor has 3.3 mill house.
Many people thinks it fraud, when its not.
Many people think it hypocracy, which it isnt.
Many people dont know the difference between greed and prosperity.
Many people, including you, think its wrong for a man of faith to be wealthy, even though there is biblical evidance its fine.

I think thats it.

Has nothing to do with being wealthy or prosperous.
My pastor has a PhD in Law and makes six figures during his day job. He pays taxes on the house he owns.

Proof that a PHD doesnt necessarily mean you have brains! Your pastor is stupid for not taking advantage of the tax breaks given for clergy.

For this Pastor to accept this actually made me cringe...

A trucker friend of mine just told me his church around Columbus OH just leased the pastor a BMW 745 with Dubs. wth:disgust:

Makes me think of the Middle ages when religion was uber corrupt and dominated the lives of their church body.

Honestly I don't give a rip about the tax thing though I think it is even funnier do to the Pastor's parsonage has a direct correlation on parishiners kids schools losing $.

This is a Church that promotes greed. He and Benny Hinn Joel Osteen just want your money. And you cannot serve god and Mammon!

Luke 16:13-15 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided (sneered) him. And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

And as a Christian I understand why you heathens think we are stupid sometimes. We are. Probably no more than you but... Because knowing pastors the way I do, none be caught dead in a cadillac. However a Lincoln was ok... No not a navigator...

oh sorry they also don't know what the heck the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is when this is on their front page of their website.

Altar Ministry:

Ministers are available AT THE ALTAR after every DWO service if you wish to receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit or need prayer!

I think they are confused that can only be given to you by the Holy Spirit. I think they mean if you want to be baptistized in the conventional manner which is essential for salvation. "Baptized in the Holy Spirit" is a whole different concept.

Anyone know if they are considered a Charismatic or Pentacostal church?

I actually agree with you on this one. Everyone should have a fair shot at being wealthy. However, EVERYONE should have to play by the same rules while acquiring that wealth and pay their fair share of taxes on it.

If, as you argue, this is simply a case of the Pastor gaining wealth for his services rendered then how could you argue that he should not be applicable to the taxes that the rest of us pay? If the Church does something charitable then they should not pay taxes on the dollars that they used. However, if the church uses their money in order to add to a mans wealth, as you argue, then it should be taxed at the exact same rate anyone else would.

I am in no way trying to attack the Pastor, Church or Christianity. They are free to spend their money anyway they wish. I do not understand how you could argue that the church is using a substantial amount of their funds to add to a mans wealth, once again as you yourself argue, that it should not be taxed.

If I bought a $3 million house and gave it to you, would we be treated the same way as the pastor above? Of course not, so why are you arguing that another person, regardless of occupation, should have a different rule set when it comes to their acquisition of wealth?
