I have no clue if this is necessaryly the approiate thread, but here it goes. Freedvds.com has been mentioned here several times. My question is this. If you sign up for these offers using a 1-time use credit card, will they really go after you for money after their recurring charge is rejected? After reading through the terms of service, every single offer includes a paragraph similar to the one below :

>>
4. GOVERNING LAW: ARBITRATION: This Agreement, and the respective rights and obligations of the parties hereunder, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Connecticut. If there is any dispute between you and Trilegiant Corporation, either of us may elect to have it resolved by proceeding in small claims court or by final and binding arbitration administered by the National Arbitration Forum, or the American Arbitration Association, under their rules for consumer arbitrations. All disputes in arbitration will be handled just between the named parties, and not on any representative or class basis. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS MEANS THAT YOU MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A COURT OR JURY. The terms of this Section shall survive any termination, expiration or cancellation of this Agreement.

Which makes it seems like they theoritically could. I am wondering if they actuially do this in pratice though.

freedvds is in fact real. i've gotten stuff several times already. as for 1-time use credit card, think about this as a real transaction. You are not allowed to use a 1-time credit card # to avoid paying. even your credit card company will not support you in this case. the purpose of using a 1-time credit card number is just a 2nd layer of protection in case they try charging you AFTER u cancelled within the correct period of time.

Yep, freevideogames.com is real. I have gotten a PS2 network adapter, PS2 multiplayer adapter, a PS2 memory card, ESPN NHL 2004, and Mortal Kombat deadly alliance all for a grand total of $23 shipped free. Sounds like a very hot deal to me. What exactly is a one time credit card #? Are those like the virtual credit card number?

Here are the orders:

no, when you sign up for offers, there is a processing fee for each or trial fee. Most of them are like $2.95, $1.95, or even $1.00. So that adds up, and you end up paying for that. There is no shipping or handling fee.

Tried signing up for one of these. Got the points. Called to cancel. Got a lecture on morals :Q That's really funny considering most of the sites they link to are scams. I love the ones that are $1 for a free trial. In the fine print, they say it is a 1 day free trial with a $89.95 yearly charge after the trial period expires :disgust: Ironically, after some reasearch those seems to be the most easy to cancel, the rest requiring you to talk to a live person and probably get a similar lecture as above.

Yep, usually you go to your credit card's website, enter in your credit info, and you can generate a credit card number that is valid for only one transaction. Great for dealing with sites you just don't trust 100%

Yeah, most of the 500 pts ones are easy to cancel. I only had to do one where i had to call, the rest were just online forms for cancellation.

Here is the kinda bill you might get:

They do put a authorization on your card for like 39.95 which goes away after a couple of days. Other than that i had my card blocked by my credit card company and they called to verify if the card had been used. After that, it was just fine. Just make sure you use a yahoo or hotmail account since you will be spammed with pr0n links quite heavily.
