nice post! i really love to give mad props to companies and products that deserve them, however i have one quabble... why not actually drop a coin on products that are worth it?
granted, i'm usually the first to warez programs that are far to much $$$ or simply not worth it (it's hard for us college student, even with student discounts!!!)
however, lately i have found myself spending money on program when i felt the developers deserved my cash... some examples of programs (that i can easily think of) that i've actually purchased:
trillian by cerulean studios
getright (yeah, i actually bought it!)
battlefield 1942
road to rome expansion pack
return to castle wolfenstein
now if it came down to it, would i purchase more of the software (if i had the money)? absolutely... some other products that i would have no problem purchasing:
norton antivirus (never had virii problems, but it may one day save me and they are always innovating with that product)
windows, the next version. why not this version? devilsown and corp key, that's why. by the next time the next version of windows is out, i should be able to afford it. okay, it's got problems and all that smack, but you can't beat the compatability with practically every other program in existance. genius. if this program was completed and enhanced (development has ceased), i would be willing to put down $25 or maybe even $30 for it
something i would never purchase:
office! way too expensive for it's limited about of use. besides outlook, i rarely open up any of the other applications. hopefully i won't be purchasing office 2003 (as i'm beta testing it and hoping for a retail copy). i mean, really, how can a handful of applications cost more than the os itself? ug
that's my 2 cents... well, acutally, several hundred dollars
