Another vote for Audiograbber.

EDIT: It's the freeware version of AudioCatalyst.

Uses FreeDB...plenty of options, including naming and directory organization.

I like it anyway...has a link to lame.dll site, I downloaded the torrent for that (per the request on the site) and it was done in seconds.

Another great thing with this software is that it does not put a single file in your windows directories! No DLL's, OCX's, device drivers, spyware, adware or whatever else that messes up the computer. Not a single entry in the registry or win.ini. If you delete the Audiograbber directory it's all gone, that's it!

Audiograbber used to be shareware but is from February 9, 2004 released as freeware! Get it from the download page.

Heres a great graphics editor. http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/

It's free and a great MSPaint replacement. And it loads much quicker than Photoshop so if you just have to do a quick cropandchop this is much faster than waiting for everything to load on photoshop.

Warez = illegally download copyrighted software

Where the term 'warez' came from, your guess is as good as mine.

Anyway, this thread is very nice.

have any of you tried Servant Salamander for a dual paned file viewer? I've been using it for years now. Paid about 20 or 25 dollars for it and I'm still good on the updates. It has several plugins that add a lot of functionality and if you're curious.. try it here:

Anyone know of a bootable cd or floppy than can access XP restore points and roll back to one? Ive used ERD Commander but I'd like something legal for work.

Filezilla should be listed in the SFTP/SCP section also, as it can connect via those protocals also.

Does anyone know of a framework (like Konfabulator) that would let me create a systemtray sensor that would popup notifications based on SQL queries?

Peace,
will

I would like to add XnViewXnView for image viewing. It has been a great ACDsee replacement. In my opinion it beats Irfan on GUI part.
Thank you for info on Alzip, it is actually faster than Izarc I have been using so far.
As far as e-mail client, I use Incredimail for quite some time now and like it a lot. You can use it for free, just cant use skin changer and letter creator until you pay for it.

Hi,

I have a bunch of musics in MP3 format which I want to burn into an audio CD. For ease of use, I want to burn them all to a single CD, but all musics (their total, I mean) occupy 1Mb more than the CD capacity . Since it will be played on regular CD players, I don't think overburning would be an option (correct me if I'm wrong).

So, I'm thinking about choosing 1 or 2 MP3s, and scale down the quality a bit, so they fit all in a CD (as long as the loss of quality isn't noticeable).

Anyone can tell me if the MP3 editors in the list are capable of picking an MP3 and give me the choice of dropping quality a bit? If not, can you recommend some software that can do the trick?

Thanks.

Audio CD's are measured in time, not MB. Perhaps you should try first to remove all dead spaces between the songs.

There is a wonderful program called mp3mymp3, its free, and the fun thing about it is that it records any sound that goes through your sound card. Its actually quite useful, for recording sound from a radio show, or webcast.
