I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro on my C2D E6600, purchased when it was first released. I know AC have a model out at the moment (rev. 2) for LGA1155, but will my cooler fit a SB chip/mobo?

I am going to say it will not. The Rev. 2 version has a black plastic base-mount that has a number of different hole mounts. The original came with a metal mount that only had a single set of hole mounts designed for 775. The 1155 holes are wider and will not line up.
Good news is you can pick up a higher quality modern cooler for less than you paid for that AC7 back in the day.
I figured that was going to be the answer. Oh well, new cooler it is, although I may have to run stock for a while.
Pretty sure I only paid about £10 for the AC7, so well worth it (my C2D idles at around 30 degrees in Windows, doesn't get above about 45 in games).
What cooler would you suggest for an i5 2500k, up to around £25. I'm not planning on any heavy overclocking, I'd just rather a better cooler to keep the noise down over the stock Intel leaf blower.
