Yeah, I got 2 of these e-mails today. From bugs-bunny.geniusnet.ro [194.102.239.21] and asterix.geniusnet.ro [194.102.239.18].

Yep, I just got one from the bugs-bunny address, and the first was from the asterix one.

I got another fake paypal scam email today. Does anyone know PayPal Fraud or Support email address? That way i can forward this to their attention.

Here's what the email informed me of:

URGENT: PayPal System Problems

Dear PayPal User,

Today we had some trouble with one of our computer systems. While the trouble appears to be minor, we are not taking any chances. We decided to take the troubled system offline and replace it with a new system. Unfortunately this caused us to lose some member data. Please follow the link below and log into your account to make sure your information is not affected. Account balances have not been affected.

Because of the inconvenience this causes we are giving all users that repair their missing data their next two incoming transfers for free! You will pay no fees for your next two incoming transfers*.

Then they show a link which looks like it's going to paypal.com but instead goes to paypalsys.com!

Hi,

There are several problems...

The link will take you to something other than www.paypal.com
The email states that our system has simply dropped information (won't happen)
The email is advising that the next two transfers are free (as we often hear on the boards...PayPal does like to charge fees)

Why do you guys always post that thing here. If your dump enought to fall for an adress that reads www.geocities.com/paypal/ then thats your problem. This is a hot deal forum. I understand you trying to communicate this but damn, like every week a new one pops up here.

Hi ActiveX,

I do find it somewhat interesting that people put faith in a site that does not validate stories that are presented there.

You can actually find a "flame" site for just about any corporation out there. Type in companyxyzsucks.com and you will find a site dedicated to disliking the company. Many of the issues on that site have to do with:

a) buyers getting defrauded by sellers (PayPal has no control over the listings at another site, nor can we guarantee that an individual you are dealing with will come through as promised)
b) chargebacks-PayPal is no different than other merchant service providers when it comes to chargebacks. It is one of the reasons that I posted often about following Seller Protection.

Customer scenarios do happen, but I would ask that you consider the size of PayPal's users base vs. the overall number of complaints found at the site. I would then ask where the issue is (was the problem with PayPal..or was it with an individual).

Just let me mention for the record - Damon is the BOMB! We use PayPal constantly for business, and had some horrid problems until Damon stepped in. No wonder his last name is Billian (despite the speeling) - he's worth that much

Hi meretseger,

Thanks I really do try. Some items slip out of my radar, but I do try to keep track of as many issues that need to be resolved to the best of my ability.
